if you want to know what happened to Teen Vogue yesterday, my work wife @allegrak.bsky.social — who ran our politics section for 6 years until this past June — said it all in this.

can't even pull out a favorite part til I sign my separation letter lol, just read the whole thing.

Farewell to Jane Goodall 🌿 A pioneering scientist whose groundbreaking work with primates transformed how we understand ourselves. She showed how research and advocacy can unite, inspiring generations.
Jane Goodall, Eminent Primatologist Who Chronicled the Lives of Chimps, Dies at 91
Her discoveries in the 1960s about how chimpanzees behaved in the wild broke new ground and represented what was called “one of the Western world’s great scientific achievements.”

Artists speak the truth.
Trump doesn't seem to see that some people are still immune to his threats.

Jack White criticized Trump's Oval Office decor. The White House then called White a "washed-up, has-been loser... masquerading as a real artist." And White, undeterred, posted an absolutely blistering takedown in response.

Holy shit. This legit gave me chills.

Texas State Rep. Ann Johnson clapped back at GOP members amid Wednesday's redistricting vote.

WHITE WOMEN, this is the model. We have more power than others. We are the last to be silenced. We have a responsibility to SPEAK so others are HEARD.

This month I was fortunate to travel to all 5 of Utah’s national parks. What beauty! I’ve never experienced nature on such scale - the photos don’t do it justice. These parks are an incredible opportunity to learn about the history of the land and the people.

Yes! This theme and the imagery of the poem really resonated with me. “Congress of stinks” may be my new favorite phrase. #PoemADayJuly 6
Life has a way of pushing through in the dark but it may ignore the laws of nature and not seem unnatural - even unexplainable - like "a congress of stinks!" Let's keep breathing and stink it up, friends, because life feels dark now. #PoemADayJuly

#PoemADayJuly 5. I’m drawn to the poem’s contrasts between literal and figurative places with terrible Wi-Fi. This made me think more about what “terrible Wi-Fi” means. It can be both silence and noise, but both represent a lack of connection, showing how grief appears in many places/times/ways.

#PoemADayJuly 3. This poem reminds me of the relationship/s between parents and children. The story is old, told over and over again, but in different ways. The contrasts highlight this aspect - relating in different ways for better or worse.

The fiscal conservatives in the GOP just added $4 trillion to the deficit to give the wealthiest people on earth a tax cut. The pro-family party just took healthcare away from 17 million Americans to give ICE a bigger budget than Brazil’s military. The single most inhumane bill ever passed.

We have learned nothing from history.
I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

If a sitting president can openly muse about arresting and disappearing someone who is likely to become mayor of the country's largest city, while also getting the funding for a massive secret police, it'd be hard to find sufficient evidence to qualify that country as a democracy.

The White House has ordered the US Dept. of Justice to prioritize denaturalization: voiding the citizenship of US citizens.

Who will it denaturalize? "Any" case that it "determines to be sufficiently important".

Point 10 leaves the criteria opaque and arbitrary.

Places where your newborn children are (for now) automatic citizens of the United States:

CA, CO, CT, DE, DC, HI, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, NJ, NM, NV, NY, NC, RI, VT, WI, City of San Francisco

In every other state, the Republican Party has stolen birthright citizenship from your newborn children.
The upshot of this decision, for now, seems to be exactly the crazy patchwork scenario we were warned about:

- the lower-court injunctions continue to protect the parties (immigrant orgs, individuals and 22 states) from Trump's EO
- the EO can (and will) be enforced in the other 28 states

Warnock: A budget is not just a fiscal document. A budget is a moral document. Show me your budget and I'll show you who you think matters and who doesn't. And if this awful budget were an EKG, it would suggest that our nation has a heart problem and is in need of moral surgery

1 in 4 nursing homes will shut down. Who will take care of all those people? Are you ready to do 24/7 home heath care for your aging parents and grandparents? This is what the Republicans are putting on us.
If Trump’s Big Ugly Bill passes, 1 in 4 nursing homes will shut down.

That’s thousands of vulnerable seniors displaced—no care, no beds, nowhere to go.

All so the rich get richer.

This isn’t budgeting—it’s abandonment. #WeWontGetOverLosingMedicaid

We are dismantling American higher education & scientific research & health care & all the other things to fund concentration camps
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.
