Important research that makes a strong case for cross-sector partnerships to address child poverty and improve upward mobility. Outcomes we observe in the housing sector are interconnected to others like education, we need everyone at the table.

More in "bloodbaths": Per a source, the National Institute on Aging's leadership has been "decimated," including deputy director Amy Kelly and scientific director Luigi Ferrucci.

And apparently acquisitions teams across all of NIH have been fired.
NEW: Per a source with knowledge, in a "bloadbath" of firings, communications, legislative, and acquisitions staff at NIH's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases are gone.

“It's a trap, completely. They’re paying the equivalent of rent, if not higher rates... If you’re in a motel, you just can’t save, so once you’re in there, it’s hard to get out. It’s just a reality, and I think it is very much a hidden reality.”

Squeezed by high prices, a growing number of Americans find shelter in long-term motels
A surge in rents and home prices left more lower-income households with no place else to go.

Fascinating insights about how young people see the use of baby bonds, esp around homeownership and college. Raises questions for me about the types of supports needed to address potential risks associated with homeownership at a young age.
While early life wealth-building programs like baby bonds are critical for helping to achieve future financial success and close the racial wealth gap, research demonstrates that insights from young adults are a key component to informing effective baby bonds policy.

Explore Urban's findings.

42% of Americans would live in a smaller home in a more walkable community.

Yet the reality is that, in most metro areas, those communities are few & far between—and they’re typically too expensive for many people to afford.

22% of tenants spend 100% of their income on rent.

That’s 10 million households spending everything they earn on a place to live.

The rent is too damn high and something's gotta give. The question isn’t whether tenants will revolt, but whether it’s from a place of desperation or power.
