Snowing out + Frankenstein soundtrack + dreary November air + some new projects.

The best time of the year, I tell you.

Fully expecting the camera to pan to Scherzer at some point tonight and he’s going to be taking a bite out of a baseball.

Another celebratory jay for our #bluejays win last night.

Don’t worry, I’ve got more than enough jay pics to take us through the win. 😉

🚨PSA🚨

Heyyy friendly annual reminder that it’s a very good idea to keep your pets (particularly cats - and specifically black cats!) inside this week.

Sounds awful (and it is!) but some people seek out black cats for superstitious reasons and do harm, so do your part and protect your pet!

Today in 'let’s stop filling the internet with GenAI animal slop and start respecting and protecting the real ones we have' -- I give you:

🐟The cutlass fish. Yes it’s REAL.

It looks like it’s forged of shiny steel, and lives in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans!

Incredible creature.

🦜 Mrs. Gould's Sunbird. (Aethopyga gouldiae)
Yes, it's REAL.

Named after Elizabeth Gould, a remarkable bird artist who died at only 37.

For the record -- HERE (below) is one of Elizabeth's illustrations -- of a Himalayan monal.

She was ridiculously skilled, and got next to no credit in history, while her husband (John Gould) is ornithology-famous.

She did around 650 lithographs in her short (37 year) life.

Whoa hold up - new fish species just dropped.

The Guayabero River Knifefish is newly discovered. They can swim backwards and forwards thanks to their weird ribbony bodies.

Oh, and this is its face.

Friendly reminder that creative work drains you in a way that 'normal' work doesn't so it's totally cool and necessary to have (what seems to be) inordinately longer breaks and/or weird ways of refuelling.

This goes extra if you're a neurodivergent sort.
