Turns out, a lot of people disagree on the definition of Fantasy when they have to apply it to actual works of fiction

A painting I made in 2016, dear to my heart. One of my favorite characters, Alanna the Lioness, from one of my favorite authors, Tamora Pierce.

🪡 For the needlecrafters here, I wanted to let you know the Lioness is once again available in cross stitch! www.unconventionalxstitch.com/the-lioness-...

We’re about half hour away from the start of season 7 of #LangTimeStudio: a #conlang streaming series on YouTube where we create a new language from scratch each season. This season’s a fox language, but here’s a look back at our first language: Engála, a language for rabbits!

Science fiction has often dealt with worries that machines or computers or aliens will take over... but never that contraptions will take over. Harpsichords, hot air balloons, penny farthings and grandfather clocks are not scary. They are a little bit silly and, in retrospect, a bit hopeful.

Are you lying in bed dissociating from the hellscape world where your very existence is being threatened by powerful forces beyond your control?

How about an audiobook from your local library?

I'm trying out something new today, and painting on a copper panel. This is a little Roly Poly Rancher guiding his herd of isopods through the garden at night. I can't wait to add color to this one!

So uh I did a thing. A very surreal, very cool thing.

My memoir, "I Was An Abomination," is coming out later this year, hopefully 🤞🤞🤞 for Pride Month.

LibreOffice is an open source office suite with replacements for Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc, and is totally free. They have the ability to save as Microsoft office formats (.docx, etc) for compatibility purposes too!

Ditch Office
Yup. Microsoft automatically switched me to the $99.99/year version with Spicy Autocomplete. You have to go all the way through "cancel subscription" to be presented these options and get the $69.99/year one you actually chose.

Although his work is kind of a freebie in SFF circles, I’ve been thinking a lot about how hope in Tolkien’s work is the choice to believe that things will turn out ok, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, and then getting up and doing the hard thing knowing it’ll all likely go wrong. #SFFChat
#SFFChat Question III: What SFF work or author gives you hope?

The hope can be in anything (the power of art, writing, hope for a better world, hope for your own publishing future because they're bad and somehow they succeeded 🤣--okay, prob. not that! We'll keep it positive)!
