Happy birthday to arguably the worst photo either @dedalvs.bsky.social or I have ever been part of. Next time we see each other, David, we have to decide if we want to rectify this... or attempt to top it. 😂

For the folks in the back:

OCR predates LLMs.

HTR software predates LLMs.

Digital Humanities predates LLMs.

Grammar and spell checkers predate LLMs.

YOU DO NOT NEED THE PLAGIARISM MACHINES.

Our country was founded on resistance to a tyrant.
Attorney General Pam Bondi: "Our country was founded on law enforcement"
Bondi: "It's extremely organized. The signs they have are all matching, they're well written. And look at what's happening today. How did these people go out & get gas masks? These protesters. Would you know how to walk out on the street and buy a gas mask? Think about that. We're not gonna have it"

This month for Fiat Lingua I did a re-read and reflect on @quothalinguist.bsky.social’s new book How to Create a Language: The Conlang Guide. I go through each chapter and give you my thoughts along the way and some bts info on how it was produced. #conlang

finn is a gentle giant with a hint of spice. always down to cuddle or play with his three Australian Shepard’s. 20 lbs of pure floof!

Our final #Lexember word is the game name itself! Sovála got its name from Engála, our #conlang for rabbits, and is the name of the lake in their region. The name means "Great Heart". <3

Our #Lexember word for today comes from Sarkezhe, our #conlang for cats: "yikwi" means "blood water" and refers to the magical water-based substance that gives all our Sovála characters their abilities (including their ability to speak!).

For the final three days of #Lexember, we are focusing on some key vocabulary for the name of the game, Sovála. Today's word is "amùghù", which means "battle" in Haughòf (our #conlang for dogs). A subtitle for Sovála is "The Battle of the Blood Water"!

Today’s #Lexember #Valyrian glyph is brōzi “name”. This word features prominently in one of my all time favorite scenes from Game of Thrones: the introduction of Grey Worm played by Jacob Anderson.

Thanks for joining me this Lexember!

Today’s #Lexember word is *hngimbzi,* meaning “to bake.” This word was brought to you by @dedalvs.bsky.social recently saying he DEFINITELY didn’t want to make a new word starting with /ŋ̊/ in his conlang. Well, I did!

Today’s #Lexember #Valyrian glyph is rytsa “healthy”. It’s from this root that the common greeting rytsas derives.
