Hello there 👋🏻 I'm Jeroen, a UX/Design engineer building things with Ruby on Rails and React. Usually I shitpost about it, but also about mechanical keyboards, Succession, film cameras and video games.

Most of my stuff (dotfiles, notes, tools...) is open source, so feel free to check my repos.
I used to ask ChatGPT all those little questions for simple things just to avoid having to search for them. But it’s getting so fucking dumb by the minute that I don’t want to use it for even that.

Not technical things, just logic issues.

Went to buy motorbike gloves for the winter today.

Store guy: “how do they feel?”
My brain: “don’t say like a glove, don’t say like a glove, pls don’t say like a…”
Me: “… Like a glove”

I even finger gunned him. Why.

It's been a while that, for me, any website, YouTube video, podcast or blog that uses low-effort gen AI (and lately not just low-effort, but gen AI in general) is a huge turnoff. Not going to read it, buy it, watch it or listen to it. Put some fucking love in your work.

You think the cookie law is moronic? Wait until you find out about the beacons we will have to use in Spain (when having problems in the road) instead of the triangles.

This. This ruins my day. You see the anchor area and the rest of the button? All those pixels without any purpose aside from deceiving you into clicking in the void, purposeless.

Make the whole button clickable. Liars.

I'm not sure about something. When you sign in with your ATproto account into another app, it asks permissions. So far, the 4-5 times I tried, it asks to be able to do everything.

I'm not concerned about shady things, but bugs happen. What does that mean? Could a different app mess up my records?

I want to have a garage like in the movies, to set up a workshop to work with wood, CNC, wielding and 3d printing. I’m sure I’m not the only dev with this dream.

Today was my quarterly attempt at using Claude Code. I don't know how people does it without being able to physically hit it with a brick. This thing is bad.

Guess who’s selfhosted Mattermost container in a 4 eur/month VPS was working smoothly today. And they thought I was annoying in the company because of not wanting to use Slack.

I wonder how many vibe coders get responses like this. It's better to use AI on top of knowledge and experience, not as the main driver. Because it will fuck you up if you follow it blindly.

It’s never too late to get back with a bunch of friends and start a D&D campaign in person. With paper, dices and pizza.

You're absolutely right — starting a land war in Asia wasn't just a bad call, it's 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀. Thank you for calling me out on that — really. I'll be extra-strategic from now on.

Would you like me to get cracking on those 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿?
dawg we are gonna lose a war because ChatGPT has this guy mobilizing divisions that don't exist and tasking real troops with holding mountain passes and ports an LLM hallucinated

I don't think open graph thumbnails should contain the title of the content. We have a title and description and if they're not visible, it's an issue of the UI. Also not sure how accessible is it.

Am I weird?

I haven’t upgraded iOS to the liquid glass thingy but Telegram already uses it (I think).

Is it going to be that bad? It’s visually messy with everything just floating with transparencies.
