There have been some good posts on what "wide events" instrumentation is but not as many on how to go about it, what attributes you should add, or how to work with OpenTelemetry

I put everything I've learned in the last few years into one guide jeremymorrell.dev/blog/a-pract...
A Practitioner's Guide to Wide Events | Jeremy Morrell
The existing articles on Wide Events define the concept well but leave the implementation details to the reader.

My tech struggle today is trying to get a @bambulabglobal.bsky.social X1C that's been in storage since early 2023 back up and running.

There's no documented way of updating the firmware except over internet, but they've changed the account system so it can no longer log in 🙃

🤩 There’s a very – VERY! – exciting animations/performance change available in Chrome Canary:

Under the right conditions, `width`/`height` animations will no longer automatically force a Main Thread animation, but can be allowed to run on the Compositor.

I have to hand it to them, it's an incredible bit to publicly lose a game of chicken, admit that's what happened, and then spend the next day lecturing everyone about courage and tenacity

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

it’s very clear more democrats agreed with this deal but strategically had those who aren’t up for election soon do the dirty work. it doesn’t mean we can’t make their lives a living hell until & through then, and it doesn’t mean we should take the dems that performed “no” on here as being truthful

You can't compare the stock of *value* like corporate valuation to economic *output* like GDP. It's like saying your car makes up "30% of your annual income" because it's worth $30k and you make $100k.

A $5T valuation is big but total US household net worth is like $167T
