WA state is preparing for the loss of SNAP benefits, at Governor Ferguson's behest. $2.2 million from the state vs $37 million from the feds feels like a drop in the bucket, but I'm sure will be life-saving for those who get this help. Our AG is also suing the USDA 🎉

New polls from Gallup, YouGov, and out of Virginia show voters now trust Democrats more than Republicans to handle the economy. Nationally, Dems now have a 4-point margin on the issue — an 18-point shift away from Trump since 2023. Time to update your priors

For folks asking if they've made it *inside* a Home Depot yet as the business has clearly just continued letting agents do whatever they want in their lots, the answer is yes. This is from yesterday in Evanston.

Before this weekend, I couldn’t stop thinking about fleeing the country. No King’s made up my mind. Readers of this newsletter know that, for the last year or so, I've been weighing whether or not I ...

Good evening. We estimate that between 4.2 and 7.6 million people turned out for the No Kings Day demonstrations held around the country on Saturday. This makes Oct 18 very likely the biggest single-day U.S. protest event since 1970. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/second-no-...

They really are mostly just local, community events, that are fun and validating. We brought our kid last time, and he had a great time reading the signs and cheering for the people honking as they passed. Got a pic with someone in a Statue of Liberty getup. (I'm sure protesting ICE is v. different)
just go to the protests

take whatever precautions you personally feel comfortable with but these are massive, joyful events, go and have fun

Jeffries was chewed out on a popular podcast run by two white women the other day (I've Had It) and today he's coming out swinging with some of the strongest language I've seen from Dem leadership this year. Not a coincidence, IMO. Legacy media can't/won't do this work

This is exactly why I supported his run for governor: he was a strong state AG under Trump's first term, and I knew we would need that in office for this second term.

Now if we could just get him on board the for a wealth tax

If outbreaks continue around the country until the end of January, the US will lose its status of having had eliminated measles 25 years ago. This week, the CDC reported a total of 1,544 confirmed measles cases.
