I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

i think it is ok to reiterate that the victim as a us citizen. yes, noncitizens are equally entitled to human rights. but also, it's important to illustrate how ice isn't about immigration at all

"Subject to the jurisdiction thereof" basically means if cops see you committing a crime, you can be arrested. The only people on US soil who are NOT "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" are foreign ambassadors, their spouses, and others with diplomatic or sovereign immunity.

Random pointless thought: the English language needs a word to describe the feeling when you just got out of the shower, toweled off and put on clean clothes, and right this second, both you and your clothing are at the maximum level of cleanliness a living biological garment-wearing human can be.

I seriously wonder if George Santos isn't living a real-life political version of "The Producers" -- ran for Congress intending to lose so he could pocket those sweet sweet campaign contributions, but he managed to beat the odds and win, so now he's screwed.

Joe Biden has many flaws, but the reason I'm voting for him is simple: American democracy will survive a second Biden term. It will not survive a second round of Donald Trump.
