Honestly a bit surprised the Detroit marathon is still international, with a part run in Windsor, given the current state of affairs and attitudes.

The boomers in the extended family FB group (for descendants of my 2nd great grandparents) have started using AI to animate old photos of family. Very disturbing.

Tried to use up all the veg from the CSA box this week. Roasted beets, turnip, carrots and potatoes.

August was my month to buy books for my Libby consortium. I’m off today so finished up purchasing yesterday. Even bought new titles (not just books to fill holds) including ones I want to read. Promptly forgot to go onto Libby afte, so now shortest hold for book I want is 6 weeks.

Went to an old friend’s farm last night. He still has this old timey phone in his house and it still works! Another friend tried it out and was reminded of how slow dialling on rotary is.

I was sick recently (right after vacation). The one good thing about being sick is I could read print books again (usually only do audio). Finished Tusk Love by @theagwrites.bsky.social Cute romance with a bit of adventure.

You know what sucks is having an “ingredient fridge” but a “snack mindset”. Like, why do I buy all the pieces without knowing what to do with them?? So hungry. I’m like a teen who complains there’s no food in the house 🤣.

Ugh. Not a good way to start the morning. Just watched 3 ducklings 🐥 cross the street and two fell in sewer. 😭 no mama duck 🦆 around.

My library offers a parachute for loan (along with bean bags and rubber chickens).
I really wish I had a reason (& enough friends) to borrow it. Those were so fun in grade school.

It’s been hard to concentrate at work because one of my cats is sick & in hospital. I’m grateful my coworkers (incl supervisor!) are pet people so they get it.

Unexpectedly had to work from home today. That meant I just heard the march for Red Dress Day/Missing & Murdered People as the drums & singing bounce into my apartment. One of the local Indigenous groups walks from their location to the clock tower in the park where they have crosses & red ribbons
