Those of you interested in the history of electronic music may enjoy the talk I gave to the Computer Arts Society last week on Peter Zinovieff’s early work (among other things). It can be seen in all its rambling unedited glory here:

periodic reminder of the existence of Atkinson Hyperlegible, a free font available from the Braille Institute designed to improve readability for people with low vision

I use it in talks because it's pretty and also because, as an audience member, I am perpetually squinting at people's slides

Fast-Track Amendment Bill submission guide  - Greenpeace Aotearoa
In a vicious escalation of the Government’s war on nature, the Government is proposing changes to the Fast Track Act that would make it even more dangerous and undemocratic.

My speech on the Regulatory Standards bill. It was 10 minutes long, but I think I covered the essence of my message in the first 16 seconds.

Fire and Emergency restructure biggest in its 8-year existence
At least 140 people are slated to lose their jobs, and unions say the proposal will decimate the agency most relied on for first response in emergencies.

The student loan scheme is predicated on the idea of a huge private benefit from tertiary education.

I think its fair to say if you haven't repaid it by the time you retire, you did not get that benefit, and the loan should be wiped.

When I wrote this just two-ish months ago, the premise was that the architecture of the CCRA (zero carbon act) remained, but the policies that sustained it had been hollowed out.

With the CCRA changes today, I feel like that no longer holds

How Jacinda Ardern’s ‘groundbreaking’ climate law has become ‘a shell’
The Zero Carbon Act promised to lock climate ambition into law. But with key policies repealed, delayed or watered down, the once 'world-leading' legislation has become a husk of its former self.

Excellent thread about Parihaka, which is far more fitting reason to remember remember the 5th of November.
Tomorrow is the Fifth of November – but let’s forget Guy Fawkes and his actions against an arrogant Protestant king and instead look to our own history: the unlawful attack on Parihaka and, by extension, Māori sovereignty.
