Leaders naming buildings after themselves occurs across many countries, though it’s more common in certain political systems: Authoritarian and autocratic regimes are where this practice is most prevalent. Leaders in countries like Turkmenistan (Saparmurat Niyazov renamed months and built monuments to himself), North Korea (the Kim dynasty), Equatorial Guinea (Teodoro Obiang), and historically in the Soviet Union (Stalin), Iraq (Saddam Hussein), and Libya (Gaddafi) have extensively named buildings, cities, airports, and institutions after themselves.

The Kennedy Center was given its name by an act of Congress after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Pretty sure its current board, which includes revered fine arts dignitaries like Laura Ingraham, Pamela Jo Bondi, Maria Bartiromo, and Lee Greenwood, can't undo that law.
