Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

Bernstein writes that we humans are driven by stories, not facts. A convincing story, no matter how misleading the narrative, will always trump the facts — that is, until those facts begin to “cause great pain” or even “decimate the believers themselves”.

Do not travel to the US. It is not save.

Science is abused for propaganda and polical inconvenient topics defunded. Do not attend or organise science conferences in the US.
I just attended a conference in the US. We had one speaker detained and two others turned away at the border.
There are great conferences and science in the US, but with the way things are right now, it’s too risky to attend.

Oh dear you’re going to want to read this. Looks like DOGErs were caught exfiltrating NLRB data, likely on unions, for private (seemingly Elony) use. This is must read. What we’ve all suspected. But now details. www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...
A whistleblower's disclosure details how DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data
A whistleblower tells Congress and NPR that DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data and hid its tracks. "None of that ... information should ever leave the agency," said a former NLRB official.

Elon Musk is reviving an ideology rooted in his grandfather’s 1930s movement—one that aimed to replace democracy with rule by experts.
We should be seriously concerned.

Breaking news: U.S. sides with Russia to vote against a U.N. resolution condemning Moscow for the Ukraine war.

Washington’s dramatic shift on the conflict marks a major break with its European allies and coincides with the Trump administration’s bid to repair relations with the Kremlin.
