People need to go to prison for allowing this, especially Trump. If we don't get accountability, selling-our-government to the highest bidder will never stop.
An Emirati investment fund used a Trump-family cryptocurrency in a $2 billion deal. The cryptocurrency had been on the market for five weeks. The Emiratis tell 60 Minutes they chose World Liberty crypto for “business suitability.” cbsn.ws/4r3epvX

👇🎯 Today in "The reason all of the awful & illegal things keep happening in 🇺🇸 politics - from Trump to GWB/torture to Iran-Contra to Watergate, all the way back to Appomattox - is because there are never any legal or personal consequences for all of awful & illegal things happening in 🇺🇸 politics.
There is no way to fix our politics that doesn't involve a lot of powerful people going to prison.

If any other president in all of history said the military should use American cities as a training ground he would be removed from office that same day. The hardest thing to tolerate in all this is how relatively silent elected democrats are. It’s ridiculous.

One side is an unlawfully masked, unbadged secret police rounding and arresting law-abiding essential workers to prop up a fascist regime

The other side is citizens resisting an unjust government, just as MLK taught us to do.

As Trump and Musk are mad at each other, let's remember this doesn't mean they and their supporters - the MAGA ethno-nationalists vs the far-right tech anarcho-libertarians - aren't exactly who we thought they were: Exactly as dangerous, as ridiculous, as rabidly opposed to egalitarian democracy.

I find myself getting sincerely emotional about this. That he’s, under the circumstances, okay. That his wife and kids know this after an agonizing month without him. That a Democratic politician cared enough to go and see him, even after getting told no at first. Trying matters. Fighting works.
I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

Extortion being one of those crimes. We coined a term in our house for people like these lawyers who cave to Trump - extortable. Seems the richer and more powerful you are the more extortable.
One way you can grasp the massive, unprecedented magnitude of his crimes & misdemeanors is that one would not pursue such a massive legal protection racket unless one had committed massive, unprecedented crimes & misdemeanors.
Here is an up to date list of Big Law collaborators along with how much in free legal services they have pledged to Trump's causes.

Yes. They are evil. I'm so glad Nick Kristof is able to bring back these accounts of the impact of Trump and Musk. Their overt desire to increase the suffering and death all over the world should terrify us.
We are used to talking about Trump and Musk as autocratic and fascistic; we say a lot about how they are trampling on the Constitution, undermining American democracy, kissing up to dictators, and making the world more dangerous.

But we should also say much more often and openly that they are evil.

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.

Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes.

Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

Wyden’s “over my dead body” attitude toward the privatization of social security on the senate finance committee is bracing, but I also think he just made a really impactful smart point about how Medicaid cuts mean nursing homes will close in Oregon. that might be a useful data point for some folks
