it's important to understand that when the NY Times does this - "asks a question" with no evidence behind it - it's because they want to raise the salience of the question.
They want to imply that it's a reasonable thing to ask.

A society that rejects vaccines but embraces Ozempic is not just "asking questions" about the risk of vaccines; it is refusing to do anything that would recognize the interconnectedness and interrelatedness of individual health, and discarding the most vulnerable out of the slightest inconvenience.
