Analyzing video games is a good exercise to build up a game designer’s toolkit. Why do games use certain rules or feel a certain way, how do they balance risk/reward, give the player goals/rewards. I’ve studied a few games that are hopefully helpful to game designers.

You don’t ‘run the gambit.’

gamut = entire range or series

gauntlet = severe trial

Gambit = Alpha-level mutant who can convert potential energy to kinetic energy

90% of Capcom’s full game sales were via digital download in the past year (includes MH Wilds).

Capcom expects this to increase to 94% this fiscal year.
Capcom announced its "eighth consecutive year of record results, 12th consecutive year of operating profit growth"

Monster Hunter Wilds sold over 10M copies in its first month. The Monster Hunter series is now over 120M copies and Resident Evil over 170M

FUN FACT: There was a time during the development of Jedi Survivor where Cal’s mullet was removed from customization. But a very vocal group on the team insisted we NEEDED to ship with the Mullet. And rightfully so we added it back to the hair lineup. Never give up on your dreams. 🙂 #gamedev

Some of my fav work I did on SW:Jedi Survivor.
Joined late during production of the game so had to produce work at lightening speed while learning the engine and systems. Sometimes you never get as much time as you like on levels, so you have to learn to take short cuts to get the quality you want.
