feels like it's time to add IV ketamine as a 2nd line agent before intubation 👇

thoughts/opinions?

rationale explained here: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36609129/

evidence is accumulating eg, pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37610640/ #EMIMCC

I recently took care of a pt with (known) focal seizures refractory to benzos...my doubt was whether to pull the trigger for ketamine, loading dose of antiepilectic med and how much aggressively treat the condition.. any pearl about it? #EMIMCC @pulmcrit.bsky.social

Israel has destroyed the last remaining hospital in northern Gaza.

We have witnessed the total decimation of Palestinian healthcare, met with silence from political leaders who refuse to acknowledge the horrors they have enabled.

This is the dehumanising reality of genocide.

🤔Why does chronic hepatitis C infection "require" the intermediary of cirrhosis in order to cause hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)?

Chronic hepatitis B can "skip" this step, going directly from chronic infection to HCC.

Why the difference?

PSA: If you’re ever reversing anticoagulation & someone asks if the patient has had a vasectomy, they’re not being a weirdo.

Protamine is made from salmon sperm & post vasectomy patients may have anti sperm antibodies that cross react causing life threatening anaphylaxis!
