One negative to being really good at what you do, is that some people end up thinking what you do is easy.

ripping FEMA apart and then letting the vultures swoop
When a mile-wide tornado hit St. Louis, the entire back wall of DeAmon White's house was blown off. The third floor of his mother's home was gone.

The next morning, at 8 am, the phone calls started: Would he be interested in selling his home?

@grist.org
Disasters destroyed their homes. Then the real estate ‘vultures’ swooped in.
“We buy homes” companies are procuring disaster-damaged properties for cheap. Survivors say they're taking advantage of tragedy.

I saw an article about the receivership yesterday and posted it in my Black Wharton MBA alumni group chat and it blew up. We were discussing it all day yesterday. Lots of hot takes from Black MBA colleagues from class of 1980s to the present.

But Trump? Apparently, it’s OK for him to dismantle the entire Department of Education.

They don’t even try to justify their reasoning.
US Supreme Court clears way for Trump to gut Education Department
The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday cleared the way for President Donald Trump's administration to resume dismantling the Department of Education, part of his bid to shrink the federal government's role in education in favor of more control by the states.

The explanation is that the MAGA majority on SCOTUS worked hard to make Trump a king and now they're making sure he gets to act like one 🤷‍♂️
Since April 4, #SCOTUS has issued 15 rulings on 17 emergency applications filed by Trump (three birthright citizenship apps were consolidated).

It has granted relief to Trump ... in all 15 rulings.

It has written majority opinions in only 3.

Today's order is the 7th with no explanation *at all.*
Here we go again: Over an acerbic dissenting opinion by Justice Sotomayor (joined in full by Justices Kagan and Jackson), #SCOTUS, with no explanation, grants a stay in the Department of Education RIFs case—effectively clearing the way for the Trump administration to dismantle much of the agency:

And more than 3,100 in the waitlist.
