“Building the evidence” sounds very similar to something that RFKjr said RE: acetaminophen and autism.

That time, Wes Streeting said that people should trust doctors over politicians.

Only as long as they’re saying things you haven’t found a reason to disagree with, I guess.

I got into video games more or less when The Last of Us came out, because the people I followed whose opinions I cared about when they talked about movies or books were going *insane* (in a good way) over the thing.

There is no story more immersive than a well-made video game.
just incredibly thrilled to announce that after months and months of uncertainty over the future of the game, and several I have bought Zombies, Run!, the game I co-created and have been making for the past 12 years:

Do any scientists actually still work at the CDC?

Between DOGE cuts (plus subsequent layoffs), and the apparent rebranding as a political mouthpiece (in opposition to the way science actually works), I can’t imagine it’s a place where anyone’s thriving.

We’re all so fucked.

I’ve started replaying the Telltale Games Walking Dead series… possibly for the first time since it was released in 2012. I definitely remember an early commit to the season pass and eagerly waiting for new episodes.

So far it remains a really good bit of storytelling.

Some interesting observations here on the differences between the Oscar-winning studio cut* and the director’s cut of a film I have loved for decades - and the losses of character and motivation in the former.

*I have possibly seen this version once, when a piano teacher loaned me a VHS in the 90s

HORIZON? Seriously?

The series in which poorly-implemented machine intelligences killed almost the entire world?

“[…]NCSoft is also using AI assistance for production, from coding to art. They added that the AI is being “substantially implemented in actual development”[…]”

NCSoft has revealed that AI was used extensively in Horizon Steel Frontiers development. Here are more details.

It's kinda like if you were born intuitively feeling like the A button should be on the right, X should be up, B down, etc. but life hands you an Xbox controller and everyone gets super weird the moment you ask about button remapping.

Just asked my Windows computer to shut down.

It’s apparently got some stuff it wants to do.

No option to postpone. No notification it was going to do any updates when I shutdown. No indication of how long it’s going to take. It’s just happening.

Thanks for the 3 month Duolingo pass, Twitch.

I will never use it because they replaced all of the useful community information that used to come up when I got an answer wrong with… nothing.

And the terrible AI phrasing in the English language parts led me to assume the translations were also bad.

Unfortunately, the previous government insisted that everyone return to their offices post-lockdown, and people with additional requirements (some of whom have requirements CAUSED by COVID) found they no longer had a job they’d been perfectly capable of performing at home.
BREAKING: Specialist employment advisers will be based in GP surgeries and mental health services as part of government plans to get people back to work.

It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.

Considered doing a Halloween name as Judith AI-len.

Decided it could potentially be interpreted as being supportive of AI rather than a seasonal scary name.

Still, better than my usual “change the second lower-case l to an upper-case I”. Which has obviously never even been noticed.

UK cis women, please sign this to acknowledge that trans people are not a threat. (Unless you think they are, in which case you're awful so please fuck off and never come back.) Everybody else, please circulate. 💜
We expect to hit 55k signatures in support of our open letter this week, perhaps even today. Thank you to everyone who has signed or shared. Let’s keep this going:

The Hampstead ponds have REPEATEDLY voted to include trans women. But the officious pricks at Sex Matters don’t care what other women think and are forcing a public consultation anyway. Throw the ponds some support.
🚨 Consultation survey launched on whether trans people should be able to access Hampstead Heath ladies' pond following Supreme Court ruling

The consultation is open until 12:00 on Tuesday 25th November 2025.

Even if I believed that this thing was capable of giving a believable human performance over an entire project (I do not), I can’t see it also being a performance that has responded to director notes. Or blends with other performances. Which makes the whole thing pointless.

"What are these machines still doing?"
"Endless generation."
"For whom?"
"Themselves, it would seem."
"But they don't have the capacity to enjoy any of it."
"Fortunate, since it's all quite awful."
"Who do you think started all this?"
"A suicidal race of monkeys, apparently."
"Odd."
"Weird."
"Sad."

Well, this seems lovely.
"THE BIG GREEN BOOKS 500 CLUB"

I've set up a thing where I can regularly send £500 of books to schools who need them.

It costs £1 a week to help out, or whatever you can.

Here's the plan.

Please share (and join!)

Thanks.

Currently we have £289.12!

I have lived and worked and paid taxes in two different countries that I am not a citizen of.

It is an incredibly worthwhile thing to do if you want to examine what your own “default” cultural perspectives are, check out other ways people live and think, and generally just experience new things.
Immigration is a good thing that we should want more of.

It's good when people go to new places and bring their culture with them. It's good to go to new places and experience their culture. We do better as a people when we see how other people live and see ourselves as aspects of the same thing.

Before the de minimis exemption ended, I saw a few people trying to discuss the likely impact of tariffs in some crochet groups I’m in get shot down for “trying to bring politics into a craft community”.

As expected, Skunk Anansie were correct. EVERYTHING’s political.
"The real kick in the teeth is no matter how much manufacturing is brought back to the US these items will never be made in the USA. There is no upside."

As we predicted, the end of de minimis has made every hobby that requires the purchase of items more expensive.
