I imagine this sentiment is shared across most parties, save for Reform and the Tories ofc 👇🏼
I loathe the misogyny and classism directed at Rayner and feel huge sympathy for her.
What a pity. An honourable resignation.
This will (understandably) get buried today, alas. But then so will Reform conference as a whole, given the timing of Rayner's resignation

🚨 SCOOP: Reform donor in breach of company law

Nigel Farage’s party has taken £50,000 from a company run by property tycoon Robert Tchenguiz — despite the firm failing to file its accounts on time, a criminal offence under the Companies Act.

I’m disappointed. I’m proud. I’m frustrated.

Angela Rayner should have paid the tax she owed - but she also did something almost unheard of in British politics:

She owned her mistake and resigned.

Much of the third volume of Wolf Hall, set in the 16th century, is about the outrage of the nobility at Thomas Cromwell's - the son of a blacksmith - presumption that he should be treated as their equal. I look at how Rayner was forced from office and wonder how much has really changed.

Nick Robinson just asked John Curtice if the BBC giving a platform to Farage & Reform was responsible for their popularity; presumably hoping to hear the polling guru say a resounding "no".

Instead, Curtice said, "it's not just that, it's also how he uses it"

So the answer's clearly yes.

Angela Rayner accidentally pays less tax than she should have, resigns, and the media gives her hell.

Nigel Farage deliberately pays less tax than he should have, and the media gives him a free pass.

That, right there, is the problem.

Right wing media has had it in for Angela Rayner from the start - they couldn’t bear a working class woman being so powerful & dynamic. She made a mistake and has paid heavily for it. Very much hope she’ll return at some point in the future - our politics desperately needs more voices like hers

Can anyone point me to the media story about the largest ever warship export deal ever agreed by the UK that was announced this morning?
