"the issue isn’t that we need more 'boy-friendly' reforms. It’s that boys are socialized to compete only with boys and to read girls’ success as illegitimate or emasculating. The result is dissonance, resentment, and disengagement for boys—and hostile climates for girls."

“If we really want boys to succeed, we need to ensure that they know how to both beat—and lose— to girls."

Imagine posing for a photographer friend who sells your image to iStock and a year later, you see this is what The Washington Post has done with the image of you walking on a beautiful fall day

I’ve been in physio off and on for a year now due to Various Ailments, and the thing that really strikes me is how most of my issues basically boil down to weak muscles. As a person who does not enjoy exercise, this is profoundly disappointing 😂

Didn’t manage to get tickets when it came to TIFF this year. Super excited to see it!
"Once in a while, you see a movie that doesn’t feel made, but extracted from a dreaming mind. It won’t go to you and hand over its meanings. You have to go to it." I reviewed The Secret Agent, my favorite film of 2025. Haunting, beautiful, profound. www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-...

This is one of the year’s best films, and one of the most distinctive.

Project got approved today and I’m slightly in disbelief! Two years of work—finally!
I’ve been trying to get a project off the ground for two years, and after a significant investment of time and resources, involving multiple companies/platforms, it looks like it’s not going to happen, and let me tell you how demoralizing that is.

After the Blue Jays lost to LA in a similar late-tie extra-time kind of way just a few weeks ago, well, you love to see it 😂
🗻🚀VANCOUVER WHITECAPS SLAY THE DRAGON!

Somehow, someway, the Vancouver Whitecaps see out the final minutes of extra time and 9 v 11 and beat LAFC in the penalty shootout.

There's no CBs for the Conference Final, but absolute bedlam at BC Place.

What a match.

I wrote my first short story when I was four. I now work for a large non-profit, but I’m still writing stories almost 40 years later.

It’s widely known (and, I think, pretty uncontroversial) that learning requires effort — specifically, if you don’t have to work at getting the knowledge, it won’t stick.

Even if an LLM could be trusted to give you correct information 100% of the time, it would be an inferior method of learning it.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, “I’m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.”

This is wild. Hard to believe kids are still being taught using this disproven method. My daughter is 5 and already a pretty good reader because she sounds out words. She constantly surprises me! Her spelling is atrocious tho 😂 which is interesting! She can read plenty of words she can’t spell.

I need everyone who uses AI to generate art & text to notice what Vince Gilligan says here. You're surrendering your brain, your creativity, the divine spark within you to a machine. Someday you'll wake up and find you're no longer capable of writing or thinking. And for what?

The elevator was out of service at Union Station today, and a random stranger helped me carry my stroller down a very large staircase and, as much as the world is full of so much darkness these days, there’s also so much kindness.
