I've finally given up on my vow to set up my real work setup once I unpacked my house (it's been a year) and excavated all my stuff barricaded behind boxes. It's so weird to use a real keyboard and _two_ monitors

It still amazes me that mainframe developer is a real job that really exists and has job postings

I woke up early today and apparently it's "what's the point of humanities" time again.

Even as a STEM major who went to a pure engineering school, I will defend "pointless majors" to my dying breath. They might not be lucrative, but they are important context for "useful" professions

I love my QA, but seriously how do they find some of these bugs?

Today's nightmare: well if you take these 8 steps, you'll then find that saving happens in this specific part of the form on hover even though no changes have been made

If bluesky had AP federation and turned it on, I think half the fediverse would defederate immediately, and the remaining half would start defederating each other based on whether they decided to federate with bluesky or not

I keep hearing a rooster crowing faintly while working. I live rural enough someone might be keeping chickens again, but do roosters crow in the middle of the day?

2nd or 3rd jobs?

I’m old enough to remember when the promise was that AI would free us up from having to work. 🤦🏿‍♂️

The worst thing is when you're in a meeting you don't care about but there will be a test later. Now I have to half pay attention so I can field, "So what did you think about ___?" style questions

The recruiter told me that there will in fact be a code exam. He's not sure which interview though. Yeah... glassdoor was correct that this startup is chaotic.

At least I'm pretty sure this isn't a setup for management now... I think?
I don't know how to feel about this consulting interview process. All the interviewers have a network background and there's no coding.

After the whole VP thing I feel like being suckered into a groomed for management role again...

Me clearly looking at my clock that says it's nearly 9: don't I have a meeting at 1pm? Why isn't my outlook going off? Did the meeting get moved?

Maybe I need a 2nd cup of coffee

Very hype. The consulting firm is very keen on hiring me. There are 2 other competitors, but they want me to do 2 interviews this week so we can final round this week. I've never been the nepotism pick before lol. Wish I knew what that VP liked about me

Sometimes I get irrationally angry about the ruthless efficiency of Amazon. It has made me dependent on packages reaching my door in 2-3 days. All these niche items I want and then I see it takes 3 days just to process and all I can think is: nah, that takes too long let me check amazon
