Hegseth sucks. The Qataris suck. But we aren’t giving Qatar an airbase in Idaho. It’s building dorms etc. at an existing base to train them on F-15s we sold them, just like Singapore already has there. Common arrangement we have with lots of countries. This one was already being planned under Biden.

For the love of God, stop panicking already. An immigration judge ruled against him, yes. But IJs aren't even real judges: they're attorneys hired by the Executive Office of Immigration Review to apply immigration laws and regulations.

Started the morning with a story about the role of the federal government in special education in light of recent comments from the Trump administration about moving "special needs" to HHS.

How the Education Department helps students with disabilities get an education
Special education laws and the U.S. Department of Education have evolved together over nearly five decades. Now, the Trump administration seems to want to separate the two.

I know many are kind of in shock at Switch 2 game prices specially with Mario Kart World but its hardly surprising when you consider a certain president is supposed to be announcing his big new tariffs today. Everything about the Switch 2 pricing smacks of tariff accounting.

Well, Trump signed another EO, this one about voter registration. This is one of the areas I'm highly qualified to comment: I studied voting intensely in my Ph.D program.

tl;dr: this is even more blatantly unconstitutional than his EO ending birthright citizenship.

"Could SecDef Hegseth really have implicitly declassified all the stuff he shared?"

No. _NYT v CIA_ (2nd Circuit) governs. Money quote is here. When there is a clearly specified EO regulating the declassification of material, everyone, even the President, must obey.

This argument is meritless.

I was trying to teach Orin a lesson about the world today and I asked, “what percent of earth’s land is our country.” And he stood there and thought for a second and said, “Like three percent?” And I was like, “well, pretty much yeah 😒.”

He’s getting too old, I need new tricks.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

Something I removed from my latest video which I now regret removing was the fact that YouTube uploaders can choose to prevent a video from appearing in the Subscriptions feed.

If we uncheck "Publish to subscriptions feed and notify subscribers" during the upload process... it won't go to subs.

4 key steps to transform the USA back into a scientific nation
