If you pay attention to any large industry long enough and follow it to its logical conclusion you eventually end up sounding like a communist even if you started off testing CPU case fans. youtu.be/cUrJVdF2me0?...

Micron ending it's Crucial consumer DRAM brand is a sign of a larger issue:

Computation going from individual ownership and moving to data centers you have rent resources from.

See also steadily rising prices on new GPU cards and SSDs.

The future is a Chromebook and a $150/month data center bill.

If anybody knows somebody at YouTube, make sure they get this message.

Otherwise, some McKinsey idiot will come in ignoring this fact and YouTube will go down the drain too.
Last thought because I should be drawing: part of why facebook is utter trash now whereas youtube still has good stuff is simply that youtube actually splits a lot of their revenue with creators. It may not last, but it means the ecosystem has money coming in to make better stuff. May it remain.

SSDs are pretty reliable in a technical sense.

That is, unless you make a really, really bad mistake in firmware.

HP had a line of ~20 different Enterprise SSD models for datacenter use.

In exactly 3 years, 270 days and 8 hours, every one is irrecoverably bricked.

Here @strangeparts.com does a brilliant job of explaining why you can't replicate a manufacturing ecosystem build over three decades in China in the US by just enacting tariffs.
