Also, this is a *perfect example* of the kind of bureaucratic layer that makes actually doing things in government sometimes hard! Do you a VA nurse spending her time providing health care or writing Elon an email about “What I Did Last Week”?
I don’t know how many different ways to say that agency personnel don’t work for Elon. They don’t have to report to Elon. They report to their agency leadership, which reports to the President.

"Let's figure out why men become Nazis" isn't a particularly rewarding game, in my opinion. Yes, everyone has reasons for what they do, but the answer to "why does a white man embrace a political system in which white men alone hold power" is fairly self-evident.

I know we talk about this constantly but it is truly one of the greatest mindfucks of my lifetime. as an 80s kid a Nazi was the most unambiguously, nonnegotiably evil thing you could even be ADJACENT TO, like morality for kindergarteners, and now we have to relitigate that shit every day???? ffs

the meanest and nastiest part of these layoffs is they aren’t even saying “sorry guys, this isn’t personal, it’s just about budget cuts.” they’re going out of their way to make them firings, not layoffs, and telling you it’s your own fault

It has officially happened. I have been officially let go from my position at CDC. I wasn’t a probationary employee. I had stellar performance reviews every year.
I’ll be ok. But please understand that many worked HARD to get into these positions and were doing great public health work.
