What is something you love about a character of yours, that you would absolutely NOT love if you met them IRL? 😆

Is there something your character (main or otherwise) deeply loves that isn't a person, animal, or other creature? A food, an object, a concept? 🤔

It’s characterization for Alexander, who is immediately established as vain and conceited, that the one guy he comes CLOSEST to listening to is a very lowborn servant.

Is there a particular shape or flavor of relationship arc that you've written more than once, or otherwise want to revisit again and again? Doesn't have to be romantic.

Alexander wholly buys into an idea of genteel masculinity supported by violence. After all, dueling is just fancy murder. 😬 Honor is everything and one must fight for its defense.
No shocker that this gets unpacked, but his development is not straightforward.
How does your character feel about violence?
Are they a committed pacifist? Generally gentle? Dangerous if pushed too far? An unrepentant killer?
Does that change as the story progresses?

More of a stretch, but I hope that my dumb lil dude makes a trans guy down on himself believe that maybe he, too, can be a badass.

This particular Dulac lives in my head rent-free. I want a cover in this style sooo bad.

7, maybe? Things can be a bit gruesome, and the narrator is especially cynical. However, Alexander keeps pushing against them and succeeding somehow, bad consequences are dodged, and somehow courage and love win the day.

What archetypes do you love to write encountering each other?
If you can't really match archetypes to your characters, you can share a character combination with neat chemistry! 🧪
