I very much appreciate the research and optimism of @chenoweth.bsky.social but while small targeted protests might at times work in functioning democracies, I doubt they will deter authoritarian leaders — particularly when the media are uninterested in opposition.
Resistance is alive and well in the United States
Protests of Trump may not look like the mass marches in 2017, but they're far more numerous and frequent — and also becoming more strategic.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau literally exists to protect consumers from predatory financial institutions. It's returned over $21 billion to 205 million consumers. The sole result of this move is that Americans will have no recourse when they get screwed over by a bank. Good work Elon 👍
