A bronze and enamel cockerel figurine from Roman Cirencester (Corinium). Dating to the later 3rd or 4th centuries AD, the figurine was discovered during the Bridges Garage Excavations. Now part of the collections at Corinium Museum in Cirencester. 📸 My own. #RomanBritain

Today, I am remembering my grandfather, Dr Joseph Shugar, who was a surgeon in WW2, fighting against the Nazis. I can’t believe that in 2024 we are facing such an eerily similar situation as early 1930s Germany. #RememberanceDay

Waking up to news 🚨 that 6 (!) Roman statues were stolen from Syria’s National Museum, in Damascus, on Monday. No details on which statues yet, but I had a few pics below from the GRB gallery with the famed Al-Lat Athena. Heartbreaking news.
