Spectacularly pathetic. Minnesota is being attacked. The federal government literally said “ICE > MN.” We are shot to death in the street and are deemed terrorists the moment the bullet enters our back. And these self-styled Minnesota civic leaders can’t find it within themselves to pick a side.
INBOX: 60+ CEOs of Minnesota-based company call for "an immediate deescalation of tensions and for state, local and federal officials to work together to find real solutions."

No mention of ICE in the letter.

Correct headline, no lies here, from an outlet that doesn't hate Democrats or the country

I do think that owning a handgun is irresponsible no matter who you are, in America II we need to strike the second amendment
Liberal cities are very safe places if you're not engaging in crime, except for the guns and the dangerous drivers.
Perhaps most importantly, a huge suicide risk.

AOC: "This really isn't just about Democrats. This is about Democrats, Republicans, and independents. There has been this permission structure where we have all universally accepted that the GOP will simply just have no morals, or fall in line, and we have to challenge that logic and rhetoric."

Sure. It will also be difficult to explain why so many writers with big audiences spent their time bashing the party that didn't do this for things like "not forgiving all student loans" or "wanting police to exist" or "only having 47 vs 53 votes"
Years from now, it'll be difficult to explain the things people in media were wailing about before all this. Sophomores writing underconsidered op-eds about cultural appropriation. Protests against demagogues on campus. YA drama. "Mobs" on Twitter. These were the threats to free society.

They are good at manipulating media to some extent. That is how they managed to keep things close in 20 and 22, and win in 24, with a huge assist from the media itself.

But the idea they can intimidate people into not voting with armed agents makes little sense
strange to me that a lot of people on this website simultaneously agree that the administration is run by incompetents who struggle to carry out their agenda without major political blowback AND that they’ll pull off a complex and sophisticated effort to rig elections and prevent defeat in November

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara: "People have had enough. This is the third shooting in less than 3 weeks. The MPD went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn't shoot anyone ... this is not sustainable."

The most surprising part of this imho is how CEOs have capitulated and seem perfectly happy with making their products more expensive for everyone and unpopular with more than half the country. we need to punish them.
look i’m not going to pretend that the industrial titans of ye olde times had civic virtue but at least they pretended like the country was more important than getting a 1.5% tax cut

Talk is cheap, and yet
… A 4th GOP Senator—Cassidy—has tweeted about the MN incident. As you can see, even these few have not been the type of full-throated backing of federal officers that we’ve seen from the WH and DHS (and many MAGA influencers).

The funny thing about the post is that when Bezos bought it he actually increased the headcount significantly. Brian Stelter said he added a thousand people to the newsroom. I have no idea what those people were doing though
If this is true (and that’s not a small if), it is reasonable to posit that Bezos is trying to offload the Post. Or kill it altogether.

Sports is a top driver of traffic and subscriptions for most news sites.

And we’ve seen how Bezos and Lewis have mangled the Opinion section.

Think it through, what is the action needed to force armed secret police out of an area? do you want that?
There has been an increasing sense in Minneapolis that we are on our own, that our elected representatives are unwilling and/or unable to take action to get these murderous Nazi thugs out of our community. I really hope that changes today. The time for pleading TV hits ended weeks ago.

What's happening in Minnesota is one reason the Reconstruction Amendments banned insurrectionists from holding office. Unfortunately, the originalists on the Supreme Court interpreted the plain language of the amendment to mean its opposite.

Alex Jeffrey Pretti was an ICU nurse at a VA hospital. His life, through his profession, was dedicated to serving his community and our country.

As so many have now seen on video, his final act before he was killed by federal agents was doing everything in his power to protect his community.

You’ll notice the American state media didn’t let President Biden forget his age, didn’t let President Obama get away from pretend tan suit controversy, but they have let the orange felon get away with fraud, raping women and children, treason and now murder. They have failed humanity.

It is probably necessary and I assume when asked most would support it but I would say it's suboptimal to punish federal workers by shutting down the govt when almost no one, especially the admin, recognizes the pain this will cause for dubious gain

Wildly unpopular and illegal actions that unite normal people against the Republicans is actually great for Democrats in the midterms, the issue is what happens after that
I hope that Democrats realize what’s happening in Minnesota is also a dry run for what the regime has planned for the midterms.

To those blaming Walz for not mobilizing the Guard, he did that six days ago. I have to say it's disturbing to see people angry at Walz instead of the government agents that just executed a man. As though we should all be experts about what to do when a secret police force invades an American city.
