Just once, I'd like my weird somnambulant alter-ego's activities to be something cool and mysterious. But no. I just wake up to find that, at some point in the night, other-me googled how long to put a potato in the microwave. So presumably I ate a potato in my sleep.

I have distinct memories of carrying around and endlessly rereading a book by @davidbrin.bsky.social, called Earth, for an entire summer.

When I was, like, eleven.

I hadn't thought about that in ages, until suddenly the man shows up on my bluesky feed.

Social media is wild.

Musk has denounced Wikipedia as "Wokepedia" on X and urged people not to donate to the platform.

Alone in my apartment on Christmas, eating a convenience store-brand buffalo chicken wrap. Half an hour into a youtube documentary on the history of nutmeg. Making a pointed effort to ignore the fact that a few days from now is the fifth anniversary of when my mom died.

Merry Shitscram, internet.

Two weird, unsettling dreams in one night. I need to go to sleep hungry more often, I'm on a ROLL.

Why is my Amazon "for you" list full of expanding insulation foam and security cameras? What are you trying to tell me?

Critically low on personal funds so I'm about to post a lot of my etsy stuff! If you can't order anything, signal boosting helps a lot! General etsy link:

Lots of original pin designs, weird live plants, books, slime and other things :)

Reposting this mainly so I remember to take a look at it later.
A recommendation. BANSHEE CHAPTER (2013) is an independant faux doc / found footage horror gem that crafts an ambitious narrative out of number stations, mk ultra, gonzo journalism and cosmic horror. It rules and is actually really fucking scary.

I am way too old and slow to really leverage a platform like this. I mostly just use it to keep an eye on people I like.

Anyway did you know that if you rub cut garlic on the sole of your foot you'll start tasting it in your mouth about fifteen minutes later?

You ever notice how the finale of Star Trek TNG is basically A Christmas Carol?

To wit: A grumpy old man is shown visions of his past, present and future by a supernatural entity in order to change his outlook on life and prevent a disastrous future.

According to the idiot who runs my brain, I'm not allowed to start any of the things I do in a normal day until after I have returned from any scheduled appointment. So I generally end up trying to schedule everything for just after I wake up, in order to minimize the time I spend hungry and bored.
time to sit motionless for an hour and a half because i have to be somewhere

you have somewhere to be in THREE HOURS, you’re gonna be late

Approximately one third of the screws holding each piece of hardware and/or furniture together. Not enough to cause anything to break outright. Everything is suddenly just... rickety.

What are you stealing?

I think Dragon Age: Veilguard might be in my top ten games of the year. It would have been top three if I'd figured out how to stop it from hard crashing to desktop every time a cutscene took longer than thirty seconds to play out.

I think my current earliest memory is of a conversation I had in junior high school. Probably. I'm not really sure of my ability to tell the difference between things I remember happening to me and stories of things I've been told happened to me. Thanks, brain damage.
my first memory was of being baptized. i was <1 year old
i think it happens when yr formative memory is an injury?

I cannot begin to explain how much I have come to rely on Firefox's "reopen closed tabs" feature. Those fifty YouTube videos I saw in the sidebar of other videos are safe now.
Not my emotional support tab!

Today it occurred to me that the name of Link's horse, Epona, is just "a pony" with the beginning and ending vowel sounds flipped around.

Also, to be blunt, nobody owes you a picture of themselves that's free of intentional deception either. There's no "no fibbing" sign on the internet.
this is incredibly important to keep in mind

everyone has their own boundaries and filters for how much they share online, and the picture you get of someone might be incorrect based not on an intentional deception but on how much they feel comfortable showing the world
It always saddens me when I see people apologise for supposedly portraying a false image of themselves or their lives on a social media platform.

As a viewer, you should always be aware you're looking through a pinhole at every other poster. You only ever see a tiny sliver of their lives.

I spent the morning trying, not for the first time, to wrap my brain around quantum field theory. I have, again not for the first time, failed to do so. I will in all likelihood try again in three to six months.

Today I figured out that, in addition to being the same drug, which I knew, paracetamol and acetaminophen are both contractions of the same chemical name; para-acetylaminophenol. They were just made up in the 50s by two different dudes trying to come up with a shorter version of the same word.

Today I learned that the pattern of dark fur on a siamese cat directly corresponds to, and is in fact caused by, the parts of the cat that retain the least heat. That's right, your siamese is a heat map.

Today I learned that the infamous double slit experiment, often used to illustrate the idea of a wave function collapsing when observed, apparently works when the two slits are separated by TIME as well as space. Gonna need a minute to chew on that one.
