Look, we tried to warn people. At this point, the only way out is through. Trump will precipitate a collapse and only then can we rebuild towards a better future. Our goal is to minimize the number of people we lose along the way. Build community, help others. Resilience is all we have.

When a hurricane struck North Carolina, Republicans lied about FEMA.
When a terrorist attacked New Orleans, Republicans lied about immigration.
When wildfires hit Los Angeles, Republicans lied about fire dept. funding and DEI.
Exploiting tragedy is part of the GOP playbook. Helping victims is not.

Few things make me so fucking mad as the cases like this where it is abundantly clear that the GOP sees diseases as punishments to wield against those who do not conform to their twisted vision of morality, and that therefore prevention of disease is itself immoral.
BREAKING: SCOTUS takes up 3 new cases, including a challenge to PrEP and contraception coverage that led to an order from Judge Reed O’Connor, affirmed by the 5th Circuit, that would end a wide variety of preventative care coverage under the ACA.

I first bought Traktor in 2009, and my journey with electronic music has been a series of on-and-off explorations ever since. While I’ve always claimed to play both house and techno, I have always in

“Protect trust in the institutions” sounds fine – as long as the institution in question isn’t spearheading an escalating reactionary assault on democracy and the modern state. The (normatively) correct response after Dobbs or the Immunity ruling is not to “safeguard trust in the Supreme Court.”

Add this to the avalanche of "godawful insurance denial stories" that have surfaced over the past days. Hopefully this will all lead to a serious discussion about the US healthcare insurance industry. It's hellishly corrupt. I think most of us on "both sides" can agree with that. #DelayDenyDefend

Just popping this up to agree with you! Wrote this well before the shooting, published today. Didn’t expect it to be quite so timely, but here we are,
America, I guess.

Jesse Singal's life's work is laundering transphobia into language that that cocktail party set finds palatable. This technique attacks a weakness of liberalism and democracy, and it's being exploited ruthlessly right now.

You have to treat the shtick like the thing it's pretending not to be.

There are over 130,000 Syrians who are forcibly disappeared or missing--the vast majority by the Assad regime.

The videos of detainees being let free when a new city has been taken over by rebel groups or freed from Assad control are not subplots...they're central to the story.

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!
