WOW 😠 … “Their plan was in April of this year simply to take children off of the child care program with no particular warning,” “Gov. Braun and the legislature felt that was probably not the best answer, so they have allowed us to create a slope to slowly drop people from the child care program.

The Indiana GOP cut the income threshold for child care vouchers this year. Now, only families of 4 who make $43,402 or under qualify.

Where are our priorities? Why aren't we helping working Hoosier families get ahead?

OUR CHILDREN DESERVE BETTER!!!!
The Indiana Senate Democratic Caucus offered 55 amendments to the state budget - all rooted in what Hoosiers actually need. Not one was accepted on the Senate floor tonight. Senator Andrea Hunley spoke for the caucus, for families, and for a future worth fighting for. Hoosiers deserve better.

Thank you @senfadyqaddoura.bsky.social for being one of the only advocates for the funding of CCDF & OMWPK vouchers, the ripple effects this will have on the workforce by not funding childcare would be astronomical. I wish more understood, especially down in Southern Indiana.
I will continue to fiercely advocate for a budget that fully funds traditional public schools, Medicaid, CCDF and On My Way to Pre-K. With a $47B biennium budget, the question is not whether we have the resources to invest in Hoosiers; rather, it’s about funding priorities.

🙄 This state has lost their damn minds!!!!
“After two years of expanded eligibility to subsidize child care costs for low-income families, the Child Care Development Fund will also return to its previous qualifications. “

➡️Note this also effects On My Way PreK which is now across the state!

At least one tornado is confirmed in southern Indiana from Wednesday night's storm. These power lines in New Albany were left tangled and twisted.

The “midwestern state” this research dealt with…was INDIANA. So when children don’t have the early education needed and there are no vouchers for Pre-k or CCDF and families start to suffer and parents are unable to work due to the lack of child care….. THIS IS WHY! Thanks @usedgov.bsky.social

The annual State of the Child report shows IN in the nation’s bottom half in child-wellbeing.

The issues resulting in this dismal ranking have an expensive & devastating impact on Hoosiers, families, communities, & our state.

House Democrats have launched a budget that truly puts working families first.

The proposal: end healthcare waitlists, fully fund public education, expand the earned income tax credit, increase the renters’ deduction, and fund universal pre-K.

Indiana Republicans have money to give every family in the state vouchers for their kids private school, but Indiana Republicans don't have enough money to make sure every kid in our state has food for lunch, or access to universal Pre-K.

Whose priorities are these??

Fully fund our public schools!
In Republicans' proposed state budget, private schools get a 28% funding increase, and virtual charters get a 20% increase, but traditional public schools only get 2%. When you factor in inflation, our public schools get a funding CUT!

BREAKING — I'm told OPM just sent out this memo with guidance for implementing Trump's "Defending Women" anti-trans executive order.

"Take down all outward facing media that inculcate or promote gender ideology. Review email systems and turn off features that prompt users for their pronouns."
