A lot of disinformation is circulating about what Senators/Representatives Slotkin, Kelly, Crow, Deluzio, Goodlander, and Houlahan actually said. Here is the transcript. It contains no accusation that the President issued unlawful orders, no call to disobey lawful orders, and no advocacy of mutiny.

The fact that most of the people utilizing the social safety net (ie Medicaid, SNAP, WIC, etc) work full time just proves that corporations have been using gov subsidies to profit multiple ways.
They get corporate welfare + pay their workers so little the gov pays to keep them alive.

At the behest of corporate lobbyists, Trump's CFPB will block states from erasing medical debt from credit reports.

This comes as the GOP allows ACA subsidies to expire – which could cause millions to go uninsured and medical debt to skyrocket.

A perfect storm of cruelty.

The first Gilded Age was an era of conspicuous consumption.

The second Gilded Age that we're living in is an era of conspicuous corruption.

One of the reasons I love retro-SF futures is because they speak to this increasing trend of turning shit off and disconnecting devices. When AWS goes down and bricks your bed, fridge, and thermostat, the appeal of analog is keenly felt.

Churches, charities & family are not a substitute for SNAP

They can help but they’re not accessible to everyone

They can’t scale up to support an influx of 42 million people

The government could easily fund SNAP, they’re choosing not to

They’re choosing to let people starve

Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr. has called off nearly $500 million in grants and contracts aimed at advancing mRNA vaccine development. This technology, first deployed during the Covid19 pandemic, allows vaccines to be produced rapidly and adapted as viruses evolve. His brain worms are getting worse!

So we should admit and accept, up front, that the Colorado never was and never will be a mighty river system, and that it is climate-challenged and prone to drought. We never should have asked it for so much. We invaded it like cancer, turning water into property. I wish it wasn’t so. (From 2023)
Why is the Colorado River running dry?
It's not just drought. It's putting sacred cows above farmers, cities, and a secure future.

Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care.

This flew under the radar, but Trump revoked a minimum wage hike for companies that contract with the government.

An estimated 390,000 workers will now see significant pay cuts.

It's not surprising that Trump's populism is fake, but it's hardly ever been more clear.
