10 years after the Paris Agreement, we have reached a '3-year average global temperature anomaly of +1.5°C in 2 or more datasets'!

And we can't blame El Niño for this, as ENSO was on average negative during this period.

The Paris Agreement was doomed from the start..

This is absolutely awful. This was one of the best resources for climate indicators data, and my go-to share for help answering public questions.

Luckily I captured some of them on my new U.S. climate page a few months ago: zacklabe.com/united-state...
Additionally, it appears that all of EPA's previously extensive "indicators of climate change" pages have been scrubbed entirely. The pages no longer exist; there are numerous dead links on the current/live EPA site, and no indication they have been moved to a new URL.

If someone tells you the CO2 is coming out of the sea, they try to fool you. We know exactly where it comes from and where it goes. We emit CO2, about half of that stays in the atmosphere, and a quarter each is taken up by oceans and forests.
Measured facts!

New imagery of 1972 launched intended #Venera probe to visit #Venus but that is stuck in Earth orbit for 53 years, likely confirms that some structure is connected to the capsule. Not impossible that it's the parachute that already came out the capsule a long time ago, but this is still speculation!

In 2011, the GOP was so offended that Michelle Obama wanted the kids in public schools to have a healthier diet that they passed a bill defining pizza as a vegetable.
And we thought the GOP had reached peak stupidity back then.

I care deeply about this country and the future of our democracy.

I’ll stick to activism.

More than 90% of fossil fuel emissions occurred since my parents were born.
Over 80% since I was born.
Over 30% since my children were born.

And well over 50% since the world agreed at the Rio Earth Summit to prevent dangerous climate change. And I thought: „At last!“

Climate scientists will spend years debating this enormous Absorbed Solar Radiation increase.

Some will call it a strong aerosol forcing, some a climate feedback, some 'the pattern effect'.

The result is the same = more heat accumulating faster on Earth, accelerating regional and global warming.

I will NEVER stop advocating for vaccines.

For the vast majority history, childhood diseases meant 50%+ of our kids would die before aged 5.

Now, for the first time in the history of humanity, the loss of a child through disease at that age is a tragic rarity.

AND YET SOMEHOW PEOPLE ARE ANTIVAX!?

Incremental changes in global annual CO₂ emissions mean very little for near-term climate change.

The real worry are all the greenhouse gases already in the atmosphere.

Of which the effect is equal to a doubling of CO₂ from preindustrial levels!

But greenhouse gases are only part of the story! 👇

Some updated figures now that the August temperatures have been posted.

First, how are things going w.r.t. expectations? 2024 is still somewhat consistent with an ENSO response, but the August anomaly is pushing it.
