After 5 long years, I’ve finally submitted my PhD thesis! Thanks to my supervisors Anya, @tobiasstl.bsky.social and Andrew for all their support and guidance. Off for a weekend trip to Montreal (avec des bagels et de la poutine) and then back to work on some long-shelved ideas. Je suis comblé!

This research will refine climate models and help predict future melt, protecting coastal communities.

NOAA cut funding to the Alaska Earthquake Center, directed by my friend Mike West. As a result, seismic monitoring by nine stations in Alaska tracking tsunami-causing earthquakes will go offline by the end of the month. This endangers people in Alaska, Hawaiʻi, and other parts of the Pacific.

I am hiring 4 postdoctoral researchers for up to 4 years each. Topics include ice sheet reconstruction, GIA, spatial stats, and satellite geodesy. Based in Tasmania.

New research out today with colleagues Bishakhdatta Gayen and Andreas Klocker projects that the world’s strongest current, the Antarctic Circumpolar Current, may slow by 20% by 2050 in a high emissions future. So happy to have this out for the world to read!

We use #ICESat2 to show lakes fill and drain beneath slow-moving ice. Modelling likely meltwater routes suggests lakes discharge meltwater under ice shelves.
