Finally watching #TheMaterialists the sex scene between Dakota and Pedro is like if someone took “But I believe I must date it from my first seeing his beautiful grounds at Pemberley” literally.

What is Classic Rock?

I saw something that tried to include a song from the 2000’s, and I was like too soon.

I don’t consider any rock music after 1989 to be classic.

Hair Metal? Yes

Grunge? Not so much

But this is just because I’m old.

So many people love this moment, but it just leaves me hollow.

Another sandy-haired white boy with the Force.

This plus Finn’s reduced role in the movie made me feel like black people didn’t belong in Star Wars.
Josh O’Connor calls THE LAST JEDI “so beautiful.”

“The end of that movie - how anyone could be a Jedi... I just remember seeing that movie in the cinemas and I wept of that last image with the boy. It’s just one of the most iconic images in cinema”

This reminds me of why I stopped reading Dear Prudence.

It was a letter about a husband almost punching his FIL. I wonder about what the FIL said that caused him to consider divorce and preventing his kids from ever spending time with their Grandfather.
What an unwillingness to read between the lines. There is no description here of the mother stopping the grandmother from doing *literally anything*.

Her issue is not that she isn’t allowed to be authentic. Her issue is that she has decided her DIL is controlling her son.

I love the Luke/Rey/Kylo part of TLJ, but I don’t like the stories around it for Finn, Poe, and Rose. Without solid storytelling throughout the movie, I can’t think of it as great.
TLJ is the ONLY one of the sequel trilogy that took genuine chances with the characters. Most of the criticism I see of it boils down to characters- mainly Luke- not acting within their headcanon of who he is. But I've always thought overcoming disillusionment was exactly the right course for him.

So question for British English speakers - do you really spell curb kerb?

I was reading a book I got from the UK and this frightened me.

In every SF adaptation I’ve seen, including the anime ones, Chun-Li is a major character. Having her played by a virtual unknown with a boob window in a cast full of stunt cast choices does not inspire hope.
I can’t for the life of me figure out why they felt Chun-li needed a Boob Window

I’m not kidding when I say that detail takes it from permissibly off-model costume to resembling the results you’d see if you wrote ‘Chun-li’ into a prompt

Some of the casting decisions look trained on fan-casting too

The only people I saw reading this were those dunking on it. Doesn’t really inspire excitement to read it.

Also, who wants to read the petty excuses of someone without basic journalistic ethics?

The worry about the Netflix deal for Warner Discovery is what it will do to theaters.

Netflix already doesn’t like to release movies in theaters. What’s going to happen when they control even more of the production?

AotC has a soft spot in my heart because it was the first SW movie I saw in theaters. It’s not my favorite, but I like it more than everyone else.
i would push rogue one down and bring solo and the last jedi up. i’d also place attack of the clones at the bottom.
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

This was what I was worried about. I never heard good things about the second half of Wicked.
WICKED: FOR GOOD is messy, dull & a far cry from its magical predecessor as extraordinary performances from Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo can’t save a sequel plagued by ridiculous plotting & bewildering character decisions.
