Sometimes I think back to the bravery of that one Iraqi guy that threw his shoe at Bush.

Why doesn't anyone ever punch him in the face?

I've got a new blog post for all of you fine folks! It runs through the additions to D3D12 since it was released, and finishes up with some of the things that have changed for me personally in my code.

(And yes it's really been 10 years 👴).

Ten Years of D3D12
For those of us that have been using it from the start, it can be hard to believe that Direct3D 12 has been around for nearly ten years now. Windows 10 was released on July 29th 2015, and D3D12 has be...

Most of the internet used to be like this. This is actually the default, it took companies enclosing the internet and adding weird, soul-killing incentives to make people behave the way they do now. In a way, there is truly nothing special about Wikipedia except that it survived longer.
“Wikipedia is this economic anomaly. In many ways, it’s sort of magical that people will just volunteer without explicit economic incentives to create artifacts that are meant to share knowledge with everyone in the world”

After 18 years later, the domain name humus.se is finally mine! 🎉

When I moved back to Sweden in 2007, it was taken, along with most reasonable alternatives. Ultimately I settled for humus.name out of a handful of terrible choices. I was never really happy with it. Finally, order is restored.

The credibility of the US government is completely shot.

Gone.

Annihilated.

Nobody anywhere in the world can believe a single word that comes out of this Administration.

Ever.

After a quick test, I found that the best way to deal with enemies is not to use the gun. Just look away and they're gone.
You can try the Microsoft just released a Quake 2 demo that runs on genAI.

It forgets where you are you each time you look at the floor and soft-locks when it's to dark. A technological marvel.

Well, if anyone was still interested in buying planes from the US, Trump really wants to rub in the message why it is a bad idea.
President Trump on potential sales of the F-47 aircraft:

“Certain allies, we’ll be selling them, perhaps, toned down versions, we’d like to tone them down about 10%, which probably makes sense, because someday, maybe they're not our allies, right?”

Resuming military aid and intelligence sharing won't restore trust in US as a partner for delivery of arms. The US defense industry just missed 1 500 billion EUR in defense contracts during these days. Trust can take decades to build, minutes to destroy. The art of the deal ...

In the coming weeks, a lot of slow-on-the uptake folks are going to begin belatedly realizing Trump is both an inept moron and a dangerous autocrat. Our great civic challenge in these trying times will be calmly welcoming them aboard instead of primal-screaming in their faces.

An even better option IMHO, is to not have the user wait for this at all and thus not need to inform them about something they don't understand. One way is to preload all shaders in the background during startup, so that once the user is beyond initial cutscenes and what not, it's all loaded.
Hey, game teams, THIS is how you communicate "compiling shaders" for players. Stop assuming they'll know what it means, as most absolutely do not.

Avowed, this is great.
