I’ve decided that 2025 is going to be amazing. I’m going to read more. I’m going to practice self-care without guilt. I’m going to finish my dissertation. I’m going to take time to celebrate my accomplishments.

Whatever your goals, we got this, fam! Together we will rise. Have a blessed New Year.
“It’s all about fighting back…this is us…we just trying to make a living.”

Bless the LA community for continuing to fight. This kind of community spirit is what we need right now. It really makes me miss living in SoCal.

I know talking trash about California is a hobby for some, but CA produces a significant portion of our strawberries, avocados, nuts, plums, and a lot of other fruit. Their economy is huge.

The more Trump hurts the labor force and plays with tariffs the more expensive everything will become.
I don’t think people get how much of their food comes from California.

Roland Emmerich has entered the chat.
There was a trend 10/15 years ago of big Hollywood disaster movies where the hero was a dad estranged from his family. The family had moved on, had a new perfectly nice step dad, but during the movie the step dad would die in some horrible way so the dysfunctional hero dad could reclaim his family.

Off to LAWCHA’s conference in Chicago to present my work on nineteenth-century street vendors in Salvador, Bahia.

It’s my first time in Chicago so this one is going to be an adventure!

Hey, remember when @variety.com wrote that bullshit article during opening weekend questioning if ‘Sinners’ would be a success because of its staggering” budget?

Yeah, me neither. 💅🏾
‘SINNERS’ has become the highest-grossing live-action original film domestically in the past 15 years.

If I'm accidentally ignoring your emails, know it's because I'm still thinking of #Sinners. Word of advice, if you're trying to be productive, DO NOT start listening to the soundtrack.

Funny how the administration hates the DOE until it's time to collect debt. This is not going to go well. Most students don't have the money to pay back these loans due to insane interest accumulation and a challenging job market. Go ahead and keep making threats. People still won't be able to pay.

I was okay until Senator Booker started talking about saying goodbye to John Lewis. #GoodTrouble
Watching #CoryBooker in the 23rd hour of his filibuster speaking about #JohnLewis, and I can't stop crying. THIS man is a leader and an inspiration, and I'm so glad and so proud that I'm watching the mantle being passed. Thank you Senator Booker. #GoodTrouble #History
