SRE. Queer. Poly. Trans. Engineer. ADHD. Ace. CWA Member. Chaos magician. #ActuallyAutistic #UnionStrong

Pronounced /ˈr̥ɛvna/ or /ˈr̥ɛpna/.

Opinions my own. Does not suffer fools gladly.

Pronouns:
* xe/xem/xyr
* she/her
Pinned
To get this out of the way upfront:

* #Kink belongs at #pride
* Cops do not
* Queer is a reclaimed slur
* Ace and Aro belong under the LGBTQ umbrella and they always have been (sometimes under the B, but still there)
* Yes I am "not gay as in happy but queer as in fuck you" (/magneto was right etc)
Huh, I'm fascinated to know what got me put on that list.

Especially since it mostly seems to add accounts that haven't posted in months.

What search terms are they going through here.

The vast majority of Americans voters understand Barack Obama to be “liberal” and Bernie Sanders to be “very liberal,” this attempt to import a meaningful left-liberal distinction into American politics is an annoying affectation by people for whom politics exists entirely on their phones
Oh u think the Democratic socialist is liberal I’m sorry for your accident

the reason why we have terms like sinophobia, antisemitism, antiblackness etc is not to downplay the fact that other ethnic groups and races exp racism. these terms allow those groups to be specific abt how racism manifests for them. all of this is RACISM, but sometimes we need more specificity

anyway, transmisandry as a term doesnt make sense bc misandry isnt real. period. what trans men go thru is transphobia. i think there are things trans men go thru that trans women dont, but its still transphobia right, its like saying we should abolish racism as a term bc ppl exp it differently

Anti-LGBTQ orgs have explicitly stated they USE sports as a "gateway drug" to undermine trans people's rights. They've also said this is how they eventually roll back all progress on LGBTQ rights. Newsom falls for it hook, line, and sinker.

I found it kind of curious that trans people weren't labelled on this chart despite being the second-most discriminated group according to both cohorts surveyed (63% and 92% for R+leaners and D+leaners respectively), so I labelled all the data as well as made the axes equal.

There are too many AFAB people in this discussion loudly proclaiming that trans women _can't_ get periods.

There are also a bunch of trans women claiming that even if we do get something like a period we shouldn't call it that because it… might upset someone?

wtf.

I cannot describe to those of you who are cis what it feels like to log in to youtube and see this as the first recommended video.

I cannot even begin to approach an explanation of what it feels like.

I've been using non-alcoholic wine and liquor at LARPs recently and it has been _great_. Most of the advantages with none of the drawbacks of actually having wine and liquor.

Every 4th of July, I take the time to read "What, to the Slave, is the Fourth of July." Let us begin:

"I say it with a sad sense of the disparity between us. I am not included within the pale of this glorious anniversary! Your high independence only reveals the immeasurable distance between us."
(1852) Frederick Douglass, "What, To The Slave, Is The Fourth Of July"

I have now learned more in the last 3 months about the behavior and lives of 12th and 13th century catholic nuns than I ever thought I would want to learn.

Welcome to LARPing, I guess. Come for the hitting people with plumbing supplies, stay for the copious amounts of research and emotional trauma

Social media was supposed to be a magical Power-to-the-People technology. Instead, its effects on politics have largely been two-fold:

1) Causing grassroots movements to render themselves impotent with Discourse-driven infighting.

2) Absolutely nuking the brains of power-elites.
Social Media really did doom us by driving elites crazy. Marc Andreseen became convinced the social contract had broken down and that there was no point trying to be a socially responsible wealthy person because there was no philanthropy he could do that would make people stop yelling at him online.
"boss hate their workers and have been driven insane by the slightly whisper they should respect the wishes" is a process of derangement that has popped up everywhere in our society

Nb, it used (as in within my lifetime) to be not especially unusual to use high dose estrogen to stunt the growth of girls who would be “too tall.”

Often without her consent.
it's perfectly legal and unquestioned for cis minors to get irreversible cosmetic surgeries btw

Heh. On the Autistic Burnout construct assessment I score a 43.

Out of 48 possible. Burnout is assessed at anything above 32.

Weird how he's complaining about this one and not Columbus Day or Thanksgiving or some such. Absolutely bizarre.

Also. Union members. It would be good to be doing some education as to your membership about this administration right now so that we don't have a repeat of the 2024 Teamsters.
I have no words. Anti-worker, anti-union, pro-child labor, anti-sick leave, anti-medical leave, anti-maternity/paternity leave, anti-livable wage… no wonder republicans refer to us as human capital stock. Fuck the oligarchs.

Yes, being denied puberty blockers and seeing kids be denied puberty blockers hits trans women differently than trans men

There are myriad reasons this is true, and no this isn't saying that it doesn't suck or isn't destructive for all of us. This isn't a better/worse

Just acknowledge differences

Scared trans kids can see adults be scared online. Especially adults who are like them. It's fine.

Don't silence people grieving with "think of the children who might see your post!"

There's a nuanced conversation I can have about talking about it with kids in your life. This is a public forum.
