Proud to have been apart of the group of grad students that organized this local in 2008.

There has been pretty consistent misinformation levelled against @psac-afpc.bsky.social in the recent strike against Queen's.

It's a good idea to practice information hygiene: when an account hasn't posted in years, is brand new, or only posts for union busting ... maybe they aren't a real student?

Solidarity with PSAC 901 Unit 1 Graduate Student Workers in their bargaining efforts with Queen’s University.

The employer must prioritize the well-being of its students and workers and come back – in good faith – to the table. ✊

One more post about the strike -- Queen's is giving a 'CR' on the transcript of students whose classes have been disrupted, which prospective employers and other schools will hold against them in weighing applications.

All this to avoid returning to the table.

Being a teaching assistant or teaching fellow is about the only job where you're expected to give a third of your pay back to your employer, and are restricted from finding a second job to pay the bills to boot.

That's why affordable housing is necessary.

It is now week five of the PSAC 901 strike, and the employer continues to make misleading claims about the state of negotiations.

Let's be clear here: for a university that can give a 140% raise to its provost, meeting its obligation to student workers shouldn't be hard!

With Queen’s University’s refusal to offer a fair compensation and benefits to its Graduate student workers – they are now entering their 5th week of striking.

Solidarity with our PSAC 901 members. 💪

For people who don't understand why this is important, just look at the colossal raise the provost was given this year against the backdrop of what they're refusing to the grad students they need for the university to function.

Undergrads at Clark are on strike. Grads at Queen's in Canada are on strike. Faculty at Wellesley are set to go on strike next week. Academic labor actions are part and parcel of fighting back nationally against attacks on working people & higher ed. No struggle exists in isolation.

In March 1977, President Jimmy Carter created the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA). The HCFA was responsible for coordination of Medicare and Medicaid. The functions of enrollment into Medicare & processing payments remained w/SSA. In 2001 it was renamed CMS. Thank you, President Carter.
