Truth be told, it does seem kind of silly to have the FBI do background checks on presidential appointees when the president is a convicted criminal and an adjudicated digital rapist.

Good news: Ben Wikler is seriously considering a run for DNC chair, a source familiar with his thinking tells me.

(confirming Natasha Korecki tweet)

Ben would be a great DNC chair: Fully committed to deep organizing and avoids the pitfalls of factional squabbles and finger-pointing.

and the reason this is important is that politics have not stopped happening. trump is set to squander whatever goodwill he has with the voting public and this is an opportunity
incredible number of you do not seem to understand the difference between trump’s base and the marginal trump voter, i.e. “the people who gave trump the win.”

I’ve been thinking about the human emotion of regret. I wonder how soon Americans who voted for a Trump dictatorship will regret their decision. They probably don’t realize yet how bad it will get, but it will be obvious soon. I wrote this thread about regret and the lessons of history. 1/13

I usually listen to historical podcasts when doing house chores, so now I am actually looking forward to unloading/loading the dishwasher because I want to know what happened during the French Revolution. No spoilers!

Incidentally, "The rest is history" is a great podcast.

DJT proposes an ‘outside’ board that can clear out top military leaders who he doesn’t like. He nominates a loyalist news host as SecDef who’ll replace them. Can we call this what it is: gaining control over the military so that it can’t stop him from taking complete authoritarian control?

there has to be a better way than sounding an alarm every single time a deranged trump-related story drops. it's unhealthy and unsustainable. we need to find a way to stay informed without spiking cortisol and without losing sight of the bigger picture. i'm just...not sure how.
