Jacques suffers from a commonly held Ottawa mentality of "It's 1995 and will always be 1995."
Jacques and his office are independent, but that doesn’t mean they are without bias. He talks like someone whose thinking was influenced by the budget battles of the 1990s and the political preference for austerity that took hold in their aftermath.

This crisis is radically different from the one Canada faced in the 1990s, but you wouldn’t know it from listening to the parliamentary budget officer

Melania Trump didn't qualify for an EB-1 visa and was paid for modeling in the U.S. in 1996 while on a tourist visa, which doesn't allow employment. Working on this visa is fraud and also disqualifies her. She also lied about work history on her immigration application, which is NATURALIZATION FRAUD.

Impressive resilience from Canada's economy in 3Q: not just avoiding a recession with a 2.6% annualized bounce, but more than erasing the 2Q drop. Would have been even stronger but for reduction in fed govt current spending. Lesson: austerity is not helpful as we deal with Trump. #cdnecon

See CarbonTracker’s new report “Petro-Provinces at Risk”.

Energy transition puts at huge risk provincial revenues from oil & gas in 2030s:
- AB ⬇️ 85%
- BC ⬇️ 72%
- SK ⬇️ 78%

Oil & gas expansion is increasingly a “high-risk, low-reward strategy”.

And it's crap like this from the NDP that makes me loath them so. With few exceptions, most of them are just a left-wing version of the CPC.

The agreement *literally* includes a massive powerline -- the intertie between BC and Alberta -- that would enable the addition of more renewable energy on both sides of the border.

C'mon, man.

The Global News story I posted above quotes Eby saying there are no current buyers for the proposed pipeline and wouldn't be any even if it were already built. He said the only way the pipeline could be built is "through massive, taxpayer-funded support,"

I don't want MY tax $$ funding a pipeline.🤬

Who is paying for that? It has to be private investors, that was one of Carney’s requirements.
Who is paying 10s of billions for a pipeline, taking 6-7 years to build, with no one to sell to?
The world is going green.
