real police state stuff
WOW. @haleaziz.bsky.social with a new scoop: ICE now gets a running list of every person who is going to be taking a domestic flight inside the United States from the TSA and runs it through their database looking for targets. This explains the Babson College student's arrest.

That's great, but Congress doesn't need to "overturn" executive orders! Congress makes laws!
BREAKING: Democrats and Republicans in Congress just voted to pass the Protect America’s Workforce Act to restore federal workers’ union rights – the first time the House has voted to overturn a Trump executive order in this term. https://bit.ly/4oNyBQc

Prior to tonight’s game UK had played just 5 possessions all season with Jelavic at C. They went to it for about 6 minutes as Garrison seems to have completely lost his spot in the rotation.

Believe it or not, UK’s 2nd and 3rd worse finishers on shots at the rim (excluding dunks) are
Malachi Moreno (13-30)
Brandon Garrison (8-15)

When your bigs are sub 50% on layups, things are weird
Kentucky has 3 players on their roster who have taken at least 1 non-dunk shot at the rim this season (usually layups, but can be some very close hooks, etc.)

Jaland Lowe is 2-10 (20%), worst on the team.

2nd worst is 13-30, 3rd worst is 8-15, per Bart Torvik’s site. UK fans, any guesses who?

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

Changing topics…Georgia is suing DE Damon Wilson, who transferred after 2024 season, for $390k in NIL funds.

I suspect this gets settled, but Georgia will need to prove that the $390k buyout actually had some relationship to damages and wasn’t just a penalty to deter transfers.

This is an excellent piece about the issues with Kentucky’s roster construction that make any lineup discussions or individual player nitpicking largely irrelevant. Great stuff constantly at Basket Under Review.

Everyone should learn about Fred Hampton, his work, and the lengthy legal fight after his death to establish the FBI and police involvement in assassinating him.
"If you ever think about me, and if you ain’t gonna do no revolutionary act, forget about me. I don’t want myself on your mind, if you’re not gonna work for the people."

On this day in 1969, Fred Hampton was shot to death by Chicago, Cook County and federal police as he slept in his apartment.

Whew, just rewatched UK-UNC 2nd half. 3 takeaways:

1. UK generated many good looks and FTs during the 10 min without a FGM

2. The DReb was awful much of the game but much better in the final 10 min

3. 1 UK player (unnamed here) was a disaster. Prob cost UK 7-10 pts by themselves.

Companies are being built because of time-consuming services, and the wages paid to those adults won’t sustain a household. The refusal of any legislature to require wages to keep up with consumer inflation is oppressive.
