My head is going to explode. ICE is recruiting by pitching travel as one of the key perks of the job.

Like, travel *accompanying deportation flights.* Literally.

The prospect of travel excited this applicant. And in fact over and over the DHS agents at the fair emphasized how it was the best part of their job. A longtime ICE agent said he had accompanied undocumented immigrants on deportation flights to more than fifty countries and stayed in numerous three- and four-star hotels. A White House rooftop sniper said that she had had “amazing experiences in foreign countries” and that the camaraderie of her sniper team reminded her of her college volleyball team.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

You think that vast armed force is going to be used just for immigration?

I doubt it. Watch for ICE duties to expand duties and for ICE to follow the pattern of militarization of police. Also watch it used as secret police against anything anti-ICE.

If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

NEW! A federal court in DC just ruled that President Trump's "invasion" proclamation banning asylum at the southern border is UNLAWFUL.

Judge Moss vacates agency guidance implementing the proclamation, issues declaratory relief that the order is unlawful, and enjoins DHS from implementation.
UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA REFUGEE AND IMMIGRANT CENTER FOR EDUCATION AND LEGAL SERVICES, et al., Plaintiffs, v. KRISTI NOEM, et al., Defendants. Civil Action No. 25-306 (RDM) ORDER For the reasons set forth in the Court’s Memorandum Opinion, Dkt. 71, it is hereby ORDERED that Plaintiffs’ motion for summary judgment, Dkt. 51, is GRANTED in part, DENIED in part, and DEFERRED in part; and it is further ORDERED that Plaintiffs’ motion to certify a class, Dkt. 13, is GRANTED in part and DEFERRED in part; and it is further ORDERED that Plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction, Dkt. 14, is DENIED as moot in light of the Court’s merits decisions; and it is further ORDERED that the agency guidance implementing Proclamation 10888, 90 Fed. My statement on Donald Trump's threat to deport me and his praise for Eric Adams, who the President "helped out" of legal accountability.
The President of the United States just threatened to have me arrested, stripped of my citizenship, put in a detention camp and deported. Not because I have broken any law but because I will refuse to let ICE terrorize our city. His statements don’t just represent an attack on our democracy but an attempt to send a message to every New Yorker who refuses to hide in the shadows: if you speak up, they will come for you. We will not accept this intimidation. That Trump included praise for Eric Adams in his authoritarian threats is unsurprising, but highlights the urgency of bringing an end to this Mayor’s time in City Hall. At the very moment when MAGA Republicans are attempting to destroy the social safety net, kick millions of New Yorkers off of healthcare and enrich their billionaire donors at the expense of working families, it is a scandal that Eric Adams echoes this President’s division, distraction and hate. Voters will resoundingly reject it in November.

If a sitting president can openly muse about arresting and disappearing someone who is likely to become mayor of the country's largest city, while also getting the funding for a massive secret police, it'd be hard to find sufficient evidence to qualify that country as a democracy.

🚨NEW: Erez Reuveni, the DOJ lawyer fired for his honesty in the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case, sends Congress a whistleblower letter detailing lawlessness at the DOJ around the CECOT deportations.

He says Emil Bove told the DOJ to respond to likely court orders blocking flights with "fuck you."
Bove then made a remark concerning the possibility that a court order would enjoin those removals before they could be effectuated. Bove stated that DOJ would need to consider telling the courts "fuck you” and ignore any such court order. Mr. Reuveni perceived that others in the room looked stunned, and he observed awkward, nervous glances among people in the room. Silence overtook the room. Mr. Reuveni and others were quickly ushered out of the room. Notwithstanding Bove's directive, Mr. Reuveni left the meeting understanding that DOJ would tell DHS to follow all court orders.21 - Mr. Reuveni was stunned by Bove's statement because, to Mr. Reuveni's knowledge, no one in DOJ leadership - in any Administration – had ever suggested the Department ofJustice could blatantly ignore court orders, especially with a "fuck you.” Mr. Reuveni was in disbelief, because, on the contrary, the Department of Justice consistently advises its clients of their obligation to follow court orders, not to ignore them. Mr. Reuveni knew that it was absurd and unlawful to do otherwise, a proposition that Mr. Reuveni felt even more certain of after a brief conversation with his supervisor, August Flentje, shortly after the meeting.

This is *extremely* dangerous. ICE detained people, including a family with 3 children, in an office building basement in California without enough food or water. Rampant human rights abuses daily.

I am not exaggerating when I say the Supreme Court’s unsigned, unexplained order yesterday is the worst thing it has done since Trump returned to office. And not just on the merits—it’s also an unfathomably dangerous green light for Trump to flout lower court orders. slate.com/news-and-pol...
That’s why, to my mind, this is the worst decision from the Supreme Court of Trump’s second term so far. Not just in terms of impact—though subjecting thousands of immigrants to torture in foreign countries is ghastly. But also in terms of what signal it sends to the lower courts and the executive branch. The court has indicated that Trump and his allies can flout the law, make a huge mess, run up to the Supreme Court demanding relief when they’re restrained by a judge, and win that relief no matter how egregiously they misbehaved. What incentive remains for this administration to comply with lower court orders at all? I don’t see one.
