Books, classical music, prone to hyperbole. Just moved back to Minneapolis after 22 years in DC and I’m loving it. Someone assumed I was straight, so here’s this:🏳️‍🌈.

It's time for my senators @amyklobuchar.com and @smith.senate.gov to call on Schumer to step down.

This is the first time I've wished I lived back in DC so I could go to very NoVA public event with Tim Kaine and boo him down every time he opened his weasly/greedy/cowardly mouth.
These are the eight dems who caved.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Let me be clear: if Chuck Schumer caves tonight, that will be the formal end of his career in Democratic politics.

The new generation coming into leadership has no tolerance for cowards.

My California senators @padilla.senate.gov and @schiff.senate.gov better be furiously objecting to Sen. Schumer's willingness to overlook Trump administration budget lawlessness. They've violated law, and American political traditions, for 10 months now. GOP shut down govt, GOP can reopen anytime.

I certainly hope my Senators @amyklobuchar.com and @smith.senate.gov do not cave on ACA subsidies. And maybe they could lobby their cowardly colleagues who are considering caving...the primaries will not be kind to them.

Good drone work. Wish the mural was better.
Exciting news — Purple Rain opened this week at the State Theatre in Minneapolis! It’s a powerful celebration of Prince, honoring the incredible songs he left us, the artistic integrity he stood for, and, in true Minnesota fashion, all things purple.

Locked in my 25/26 classical concert season. In addition to 22 with @minnesotaorchestra.org and 11 with @thespco.org I'm headed to Calgary next weekend to hear a little Malcolm Arnold and then later in the season to Cleveland, New York, Louisville, Salt Lake, Phoenix, Berlin, London, and Paris.

Having had jury duty about every 24 months over the course of 25 years in DC, I knew there was no way in hell a DC jury was going to find him guilty.

If the sub didn’t split, you must acquit!
Defense begins, “This case, ladies and gentlemen, is about a sandwich. A sandwich that according to Agent Lairmore somehow both exploded on his chest in a spray of mustard and onions but also landed intact on the ground still in its Subway wrapper.”

Yes
It was a rejection of the entire administration and Dems should see this as a signal to become an actual opposition party. On everything. You don't stop the shutdown. You don't approve another appointee. You do nothing at all. The voters saved you, not the other way around. LEARN TO LEAD.
On a call with reporters, DNC chair Ken Martin responds to JD Vance claiming Dems only won big last night because races were in blue states.

"Well that's bullshit. We won in red counties, blue counties, purple counties," Martin says. And it was all "a rejection of Trump."

Now that I'm doing a renovation which will increase my bookshelf capacity by 150%, I'm struggling to get rid of books I DNF.

More than one pundit last night talked about how Mamdani's win would boost Trump's messaging against Dems. Clearly this is the Schumer/Jeffries school of thought that we should just not do anything about anything lest asshat tweet about it.

My favorite eight symphonies today:

Stanford 1-7
Weill 2
My favourite eight symphonies today:

Beethoven 3
Shostakovich 6
Sibelius 6
Rosenberg 3
Magnard 3
Mendelssohn 3
VW 3
Rubbra 6

The more astute will notice that they're all third or sixth symphonies. I assure you that it's a coincidence.

Not a very spooky Halloween, but a great @minnesotaorchestra.org program ahead with BOULANGER, SAINT-SAËNS, WEILL, and RAVEL.
