Black Lives Still Don’t Matter in America

In 2024, it’s good to be a white man who kills unarmed Black people in America. On the acquittal of Daniel Penny who choked Jordan Neely to death

Thanksgiving dinner is historically affordable this year
Data shows holiday meal staples are collectively at their cheapest, after adjusting for inflation, in nearly 40 years — not including Covid-hit 2020.

@aaronparnas.bsky.social We need to get state parties and the DNC involved on Bluesky along current office holders and candidates for office. What are your thoughts?

I said on Wednesday the 7th that people need to start resigning. I'm sick of this -_-
Folks in Democratic Leadership need to retire or yield to new blood. That doesn't necessarily mean younger. We need fighters who come from communities who can't rely on civility and the "good old days" as MAGA targets us.

But they'll hold on until the end and come back from grave if needed.

The idea that release of the Gaetz ethics report would be a breach of protocol is beyond laughable when we are talking about a breach-of-protocol-nomination of someone so supremely unqualified in experience & ethics to be the AG.

Now this from NBC News

“Attorney Joel Leppard told NBC News:

‘My client testified to the House Ethics Committee that she witnessed Rep. Gaetz having sex with a minor at a house party in Orlando in 2017.’”

if your stance is "NO PORN" and "DON'T ASK ME FOR MONEY" you are announcing your opposition to how this particular social media site's culture has been shaped by the very people for whom it has (imperfectly I know) functioned as a haven. Sex workers are not the enemy. Mutual aid is not wrong.
sex workers were here first. if you don’t want to see porn don’t change your settings to show you porn dumbass

Absolute tone deaf failure by the establishment NYC-DC Acela corridor of power in politics and media. All talk about identity policies without understanding or acknowledging that Trump’s entire political being is centered on identity politics and exploiting racial grievances.

Right wing disinformation was a top 3 factor in this election. Those who don't mention it or refuse to see it and instead harp on "identity politics" need to be ignored moving forward.

I love seeing all the library support, but here's some realistic ways to help, from a former public librarian:
- Circulate materials. Budget is often based on circ not only overall, but genre/category as well
- Volunteer as a shelver if that's something they do
- Don't "donate" your old crappy books

A repeat thought, Bluesky, & a Librarian told you this so it must be true 🤣

Audiobooks definitely count as reading (as well as listening). If you've played through an audioook, its perfectly fine to describe that as "I have read [x]"

All other forms of assistive software count as reading too 💙📚

So are we going to start having a conversation about what may be about to happen to resourcing for USA libraries, archives, and museums, if the federal cuts go ahead...? And which ones are obviously most likely to be targeted? and what we can do in advance of January to support? data lifeboats?
