This is astonishing: Solar panels have become 98% cheaper in 20 years. I'm thinking about making a solar fence. 🌞🛰️⚡️
Solar’s price drop is astonishing: panels are now 98% cheaper than when I first analyzed them in 2004.

Today, building a fence with solar can be cheaper than using wood.

Awesome: when you switch to clean energy, you use less energy.
WELCOME TO DEGROWTH!
When you switch from fossil to clean you only use like 30-40% of the energy to do the same stuff, bc most energy from fossil fuels is lost as waste heat

What's I'm trying to say is that all climate action is degrowth

WELCOME TO DEGROWTH EVERYONE
From my file on the IEA's world energy outlook.

"Primary energy" = what goes in

"Final energy" = what comes out
a
The space in between: mostly lost energy bc burning fossil fuels is absurdly wasteful.

So in the net zero scenario, that gaps closes to zero --->>

They are not from her imagination, but a testimony to the moment.

What was behind the 2024 record jump in atmospheric CO2 concentrations? A massive 20% of human emissions that should have been absorbed by the land and oceans was left in the atmosphere.

Are Earth’s natural carbon sinks collapsing?
Atmospheric CO2 levels jumping a record 3.5ppm in 2024, while human emissions remained largely constant. This suggests reduced carbon absorption by land and ocean sinks which will accelerate warming.

Lifesaving UNRWA medicines are waiting at the border, denied entry into #Gaza by the State of Israel.

Despite immense challenges, UNRWA has provided over 15 million health consultations since the war began.

This is the news: we are condemning ourselves - and the entire living world - to devastating consequences of climate breakdown.
We cannot say that we didn't know.
This is the news I've dreaded all my life, and it's here: Humanity has failed to avoid dangerous climate change.

We have now entered the overshoot era.

Our new goal is to prevent as many irreversible tipping points from taking hold as we can.

Hurricanes are getting so intense, we're going to need a bigger scale. #Melissa #climatebreakdown
Since 2013, five tropical cyclones would have been category 6 - if the traditional hurricane scale didn’t stop at 5.
Unlike, say, the Richter earthquake scale and the Celsius scale.

Hurricanes are getting so intense, scientists propose a Category 6

Hurricanes are getting so intense, scientists propose a Category 6
The hypothetical new label could go to any tropical cyclone with sustained winds of at least 192 mph — an intensity that five storms have surpassed since 2013, the scientists said.

Lower energy bills through avoided gas: £14.2bn
Avoided infra & new gas generation: £133.3bn
Subsidies paid to wind power: - £43.2bn

Overall benefit to UK economy **£104bn**

Don't believe the wind power haters
