Idaho also has a large number of volunteer EMTs, who give hours of their time to help their communities. True heroes, all of them! wapo.st/40KAcNJ
He thought he was too old to be an EMT. At 76, he’s saved countless lives.
A moped injury left Ed Levien vulnerable and grateful to strangers for their help. That led him to his second, and most meaningful, act — as an EMT.

It's often presented as a kind of conformity or groupthink to "trust the experts," but you do in fact need to do this to have a functioning society!

What is the alternative? Every person researches every single issue of public concern themselves?
Scientific insiders hold power for a reason. Cause they know shit. The idea that there is something wrong with our best and brightest holding power is how we get idiots who run our country into the ground. Absurd
Utterly psychotic. RFK's "unfounded beliefs and suspicions" are what separate him from legitimate critics of science and public health, he fucking lies all the time!

You can't say "he might have a point" about the parts you agree with and ignore everything else.

"Despite its low profile, AmeriCorps has had steady support among Democrats and Republicans. Leaders from both parties have historically viewed the program as an effective way to strengthen communities."
A big Trump administration cutback went nearly unnoticed
About 32,000 low-paid AmeriCorps members lost their positions in April, gutting some health clinics, food pantries and other human service organizations.

Official CBO analysis confirms the obvious: House Republican tax and budget bill isn't shared sacrifice.

It makes poor people poorer and rich people richer. It does this by cutting health care & nutrition to help finance tax cuts skewed to the wealthy.

UnitedHealth secretly pressured nurses to change patients' records to include DNRs (Do Not Resuscitate) without their consent, so those patients would die instead of being saved with medical interventions that could cost UnitedHealth money.

This is murder.

So the guy who is chain-sawing his way through the federal government and firing people willy-nilly to save the taxpayers a buck or two is also the CEO of an electric car company that wouldn't be able to stay in business without a steady diet of massive tax subsidies. Do I have that right?

Today House Republicans, cheered on by the richest person on Earth, passed a budget framework that will cut support for the poorest people in our country.

All while cutting taxes for corporations and the wealthy, and massively increasing the deficit.

Wild story by @ryansuppe.bsky.social:

Rep. Barbara Ehardt, an Idaho Falls Republican who has long opposed DEI, said she had received text messages from people “at the universities” who supported Senate Bill 1198.

“I’m gonna delete (them),” Ehardt said with a laugh. #idleg #idpol

Any time someone tells you government services should be privatized because private companies could do a better job, ask them how often they've yelled "REPRESENTATIVE" over and over again at the top of their lungs while on hold with one of those private company's "customer service" departments.
