So Flint, Michigan gave $1,500 to all pregnant people, plus $500 each month for the first year of the child’s young life.

It saved Flint $6.2 million dollars a year, due to lower rates of rates of prematurity and low birth weight, with fewer corresponding admissions.

The right thing, AND cheaper.

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)
There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.

Hollywood has struggled to come up with a climate movie or TV show that isn't a dystopian thriller or obtuse metaphor.

So I'm thrilled that @macpherzone.bsky.social will be adapting my book about oil companies covering up climate secrets for New Pictures.

Oh, definitely. Choosing to be car free when you can afford one (because you have much privilege in choosing work, live, shop, school, kids activities, alt transport) is VERY different than being unable to afford a car and spending much time inefficiently getting around.
New #research on car-free households reveals two key insights: 1) Important distinctions between "car-free by choice" vs "car-less by necessity" showing social/economic differences 2) Research lacks #socialscience perspective.

I thought the TRBOT was smarter than this; their advocacy for a better rail system was great.
the toronto region board of trade really shows its true colours as a big corporate interest group with their flawed report.

at this point, this "business interest group" has thrown every local small business in downtown toronto under the bus by calling to remove much-loved caféTO street patios.
