Do it scared.
Never fear the consequences if you are standing up for what it is right.

Karma and grace will bless and protect you.

"To those who can hear me, I say: do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed - the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people.." -Charlie Chaplin

Care for yourself and your loved ones, THEN ask yourself how you can show up.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, it's intentional. They're calling it "flooding the zone." The intent is to overwhelm and exhaust us so we can not effectively resist. Something simple you can do right now now is to make sure to take breaks and rest.

"We're seeing less collective movement surrounding issues that once had so much" as if ongoing protests are directly correlated with public concern and therefore media coverage. This rhetoric is divisive and it's already spreading.

I have long struggled with valuing my own voice. If I would encourage others to speak up, I have no reason to stay quiet myself.

Don’t think you don’t make a difference

Every stone dropped in the pond

Sends out ripples

You matter

You can find many things in the depths of hopelessness. Maybe defiance, maybe Lady Liberty’s inscription. You’ll never know if you’re numb to it.

Find your community, connect with people. We are here - the world is not as lonely as it feels.
good morning. do not wait for your fear to subside; it will always be there, in some way or another. you must do it scared: speaking, acting, moving on. your fear is valid. your worries are very real and should not be downplayed. you must, however, do it scared. we can do it scared together.

And two voices in unison is louder than one.
One voice can be very very loud.

And by being so, it can inspire others to speak up too.
Would very much like to thank Joanne Freeman @jbf1755.bsky.social for her pointing out that Bishop Budde was one voice, just one, speaking to power and it was amplified across the media.

Don't give up.
Don't stop speaking the truth.

Resistance is NOT futile.

Hulsey and Houston Public Libraries provide free e-cards for *all* Texas residents.

Free library card, free Libby account, free knowledge.
Getting a library card is punk as fuck and free!

people failing to realize they gotta do it scared.
What's the most difficult part of your job *to you*?

"Every single one of us has something to offer." That part.

It's easy to feel like your voice doesn't matter in a sea of noise. It does.
Pick your focus and stick with it. We cannot fight in all fronts or we will become overwhelmed. But we can all peel off a corner in our area of expertise and begin to reveal effective strategies for resisting the chaos. Every single one of us has something to offer.

We have to preserve electoral competition and that means more than just worrying about the rules for fair elections. It means vigorously protecting our rights to speak, assemble, organize, and recruit candidates. Because if we can’t do that the elections won’t matter.

I (like many others) am starting from scratch here. My thoughts are: communicate personally, organize locally, and connect more broadly.

I am seeking to build my state and local community. I will be starting a discord for this purpose. It can be isolating in a red state. Hill Country and Texas folx - connect with me!

Growth in the face of adversity is born through resistance.

I believe that change is made through consistent and purposeful movements. Together, our voices are amplified.

Let us build community.

Step one: identify your congressional district and representative. See also: next election cycles.
